The Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) has unveiled its iconic book, "50 Drivers of Nigeria's Marine and Blue Economy," a comprehensive chronicle of the contributions and achievements of outstanding individuals and institutions to the maritime industry. The event, held at Providence Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, brought together the cream of stakeholders in the maritime industry.

In his address, the Chairman of the occasion, Capt. Emmanuel Ihenacho, a former Minister of Ministry of Interior, described the gathering as a defining moment for a sector that remains one of Nigeria's most powerful but underutilized economic engines.

He highlighted the industry's central role in trade facilitation, job creation, and national revenue generation, stressing that its true potential is only beginning to unfold.

The well researched book, which took two years of intense documentation, and industry consultations, profiles outstanding individuals, private sector organizations, government agencies, and unions that have driven reforms and growth in the sector. It is a vital reference material for policymakers, scholars, investors, and students seeking to understand the evolution of Nigeria's marine and blue economy.

Dr. Pius Akutah, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers' Council, described the launch of the book as a historic milestone for the industry, paying tribute to the men and institutions whose commitment, vision, and reforms have shaped the nation's maritime landscape.

The event also featured reviews and goodwill messages from industry stakeholders, including Mrs. Carol Ufere, former SERVICOM General Manager at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), and Mr. Hassan Bello, former NSC Executive Secretary.

Tunde Ayodele, Chairman of MARAN's Caretaker Committee, expressed appreciation to all who attended, describing the launch as a historic moment for the maritime media community and the broader sector.

The book's focus on governance, innovation, digitalization, security architecture, and institutional strengthening provides research-driven insights into ministries, agencies, industry leaders, reforms, and policy directions shaping Nigeria's blue economy. It is a testament to the industry's excellence and a valuable resource for anyone interested in Nigeria's maritime future.
