  Oyo State Government has suspended a female student of Jericho High School, Ibadan, vowing to take further action on the matter in due course.  The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Rahman Abiodun Abdu-Raheem stated this today, after a meeting with key Education stakeholders in Ibadan today.  Expressing the displeasure of Oyo State government over the incident, which led to her suspension, Adbu-Raheem disclosed that the student in company of her mother, recently invaded the school with hefty thugs and miscreants assaulting a male student, teachers and other parents during an ongoing PTA meeting.  The mayhem was said to be ignited by the girl’s mother and other accomplices, thereby causing tension in the school.  Barr. Oyo Sanctions 80 For Violating Environmental Law

About 80 persons have been arrested during the week in Ibadan by the State’s Environmental Task Force for violating the environmental laws. This was revealed by the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Mr. Abiodun Oni who revealed that the Task Team apprehended offenders at Gate, Aleshinloye, Eleyele, Sabo, Apata, Iwo-road, Ojoo, Moniya, U.I-Agbowo, Sango and General Gas areas in Ibadan. In their separate judgements, Chairmen of the State’s Environmental Protection Tribunal, Barr. Saheed Ganiyu and Barr. Kunle Abimbola disclosed that the eighty persons were caught dumping refuse in unauthorized places, hence they are guilty of violating the environmental laws of the state. Similarly, three of the offenders were caught using vehicles to mobilize wastes to unauthorized areas while two were arraigned for obstructing the environmental task force team from performing their civic duties and were fined accordingly from ₦2,000 to ₦40,000 depending on the degree of their offences

According to a family source, who confirmed the death on Monday, said, Mrs. Bamigbetan died last night on Sunday, in Ile-Ife, after a brief illness. Though, as of press time it could not be confirmed the nature of death but information making the rounds said she succumed to longtime cancer. OYRTMA Issues Traffic Advisory, As Burnt PMS-Laden Tanker Causes Traffic Snarl in Ibadan

  Following an explosion of a PMS-laden tanker along Agodi area in Ibadan, the Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority, OYRTMA, has advised road users to use alternative routes, while it's men and other relevant agencies strive to return normalcy to the route.  A statement signed by the Agency's Chairman, Dr. Akin Fagbemi, on Friday says, "the incident which resulted to the slagging of powered electric poles and cables dangling across the road portends danger to motorists plying the route hence, in the interim, the Authority has barricaded the way from Total-Garden to Agodi-Gate, Ibadan to enable safety officials of relevant government agencies evacuate the affected vehicles and restore normalcy".  However, the Agency suggested alternative routes to vehicles intending to ply the axis.  "Motorists are advised to navigate towards the State Secretariat at the Total-Garden Round-about to link the Government Road towards the Kola Daisi Civic Center inwards Agodi

  The Oyo State Environmental Tribunal court, today, fined not less than 60 persons for flouting the state’s Environmental sanitation laws during the week exercise along Bodija, Iwo-road, Beere, Sapati, Elewi-Odo, Ojoo, Gate, Oke-bola, and few other areas in Ibadan. While giving his verdict, the Magistrate, Mr. Raheem Wasiu stated that in as much as the offenders were caught dumping refuse in unauthorized areas, hence found guilty for violating the environmental sanitation and waste management laws, therefore they were charged for a fine between ₦5000 and ₦25,000 ranging from the degree of offences while 3 other persons opted for community services.
