Oworosoki Kingdom Call On Governor To Saved Them From Imposition of Of New Oloworo

This was disclose In a press conference held resently at oworosoki.

The first daughter of the first daughter of Saliu Asunmogijo, Alhaja Ganiyat Akanbi Odeyemi, who is presently the female Olori Ebi of the royal family in Oworonshoki, informed the press how they got the shock of their life with the installation of the new Oloworo of Owonroshoki Oba Babatunde Saliu, against the family’s wish.

In her message, she said;

“Why I just want to say some few things is because of the Shock the government gave us in Oworonshoki and the entire family of Saliu. Many people don’t think that this kind of thing can happen in Yoruba land. That Government and one Oba can impose an oba on us in Oworo here.

“We as the family of Saliu Asunmogijo, we choose Nurudeen Olasunkanmi Alani as the Oba that would emerge after the demise of the first Oba.

“We choose him, as the new Oba in Oworonshoki in which the chiefs (Afobaje) support it. Almost all the Oba’s in Lagos state know Nurudeeen.

“Who elect Babatunde as the Oba of Oworo?

It is the family that will elect Oba and take it to the government, then government will stamp it. Who elect Tunde ? Why will they impose Oba on us ? We have our own Oba, which they know. Our names are at Alausa. Why must they change his name for us ? Why ?

“All the entire family of Saliu Asunmogijo, and the entire people of Oworonshoki both the indigenes and non Indigenes are begging the Federal government and the state government to revoke the present Oba, we don’t want him. She said.

“The Oba that we elect is Nurudeen Olasunkanmi as Oloworo of Oworonshoki. The person they impose on us we don’t want it. Is this the way they elect Oba’s?.

“If he was genuinely installed, how come the entire Oworo is occupied by heavy security apparatus. No freedom of movement, we are harrased by policemen.

“The government just want to create enemity in our family, why the imposition ? Is this the way they elect Oba ? You can’t work the way you want , police will challenge you for what ? This is a slap on us and it must stop.

“All the Oba’s in Yoruba land, am pleading to them to stand up for our us because we don’t have money, and we are not also in government. That is why they did what they do to us.

“Tunde is in government, we are not in government. Nurudeen that we elected is not in government. We the entire family of saliu we don’t want the imposition. The government just want to scatter our family for us.

“15 days after his unlawful installation many things have been going wrong. Our Olori ebi, the Osolo of Isolo endorsed Nurudeen, why must tgovernment change it for us ?

“We are begging all the stakeholders involved to come to our aid and crown the person the family chooses who is Nurudeed Alani Okasunkanmi as the Oloworo of Oworonshoki, that is what we want and we are begging the government to upturn the decision.

In another interview which corroborates the stance of the female Olori ebi of Saliu Asunmogijo, the bashorun of Oworonshoki and the chairman who supervised all the chieftain under Oloworo of Oworonshoki before the demise of the king, Oloye Jelili Aremu Lawal in an interview during the press conference said;

“We were slapped in the face but we the indigenes of Oworonshoki believed God will avenge for us. We have chosen Nurudeen Olalekan Saliu the son of late king of Oloworo of Oworo, we have chosen him, we have done the appropriate ritual as doctrine for installing kings.

“The ritual done for Kings by the community has been done by the old and the young people in our community for Nurudeen and he has been on his seat.

“However, you can’t install a king without the government knowledge, that is how they were able to manipulate the process. When we are not fighting war, what is the police and army doing in Oworonshoki neighborhood and in the palace?.

“We can’t superintendent over the government affairs, but we know God will definitely vindicate us regardless of the effort they make to circumvent our strides in Oworonshoki.

“We asked our community who is their preferred King, They said is Olalekan Nurudeen Saliu, and we consulted oracle (IFA), and it says the same.

“We can’t fight the government but I want the government to come to our aid. Bulk of indigenes from Oworonshoki didn’t join him in, all those who are with him were hired and rented.

“When politicians campaign, they mobilise all and sundry to have a larger crowd, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are all politicians. All those with the Government installed King Babatunde Saliu are not all indigenes but they are rented.

“We want the government to douse the tension in Oworonshoki so that normalcy can be restored”. He said.

The representative of President of National youth council headquarters Solomon Adodo ably represented by Ambassador Vincent Ubani at the press conference said after receiving complaints through an Ambassador of Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) Akindayomi Olasunkanmi over the uproar in Oworonshoki as a result of the kingship emergence of Oba Babatunde Saliu said in his speech that;

“Lagos state youths students and women both South West have a critical stake on this rejection to install the original Oba Elect Oba Nurudeen Olalekan Saliu of Oworoshoki Kingdom and as a patron the act is act against the youths, students and women in south west. .

“It is on this note that we at the Nigeria Youth Headquarters NYCSRF has pen down our request and appeal that all authority are to as a matter of urgency look into this report and see how the Lagos state government can urgently address the tension in this matter of the Lagos state government not approving the original Oba Elect of Oworoshoki Kingdom, which is already rasing agitation that has been reported to me and I myself ,for this cause has to visit Lagos state and have discussed at length with the Oba Elect on June 25, 2022 at Oworoshoki Kingdom just to have a first hand information from the Oba Nurudeen Olalekan Saliu to understand the reason of the agitations of the youths leaders from that LGA and region and with documents precent has shown that the original Oba Elect Oba Nurudeen Olalekan Saliu is the rightful Oba that the government is supposed to be approved with the legal documents as backup as well.

“We hereby call for peace and unity in Oworoshoki Kingdom and ask the youths, students and women to give the government the chance to look into this matter and urgently address and restore the original Oba Elect Oba Nurudeen Olalekan Saliu in office as Oba of Oworo in Oworoshoki Kingdom while we look forward to the authority earliest reaction and formidable approach to restore peace to the Oworoshoki Kingdom as the decision taking weeks ago has left many in shock and hospitalized because the Lagos state government approval of wrong person as the Oba of Oworoshoki Kingdom which the Oworo people see such act as a betrayer to the good people of Oworoshoki Kingdom”. Ubani said.
