Oyo Gov't Begins e-payment of Retirees' Gratuities*

* * The Oyo State Government says it has begun the payment of gratuity benefits to retirees via e-payment. The State Commissioner for  Establishments and Training, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola, announced this development during a three-day symbolic data capturing and e-payment exercise for retirees at the Nigeria Union of Pensioners' Building in Agbarigo, Onireke, Ibadan. This was revealed by the Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, OYOSUBEB, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran during a meeting with Board members today. Recall that the board recently announced that 50, 700 applicants registered on the official website of the Board.  While, 45, 827, sat for the exam, 8, 197 candidates scored above 50 marks. According to the Chairman, who headed the Board meeting, the oral interview sessions, which exempted people with disabilities started on August 14, 2024, ended on Monday, August 26, 2024.   August 30, 2024 – Lagos, Nigeria: In a significant victory against internet piracy, the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Force Intelligence Bureau has successfully apprehended the operator behind the notorious pirate domain  www.score808.com.ng . This domain was infamous for illegally streaming MultiChoice (SuperSport) content, drawing millions of visits from across Africa and beyond.   The arrest, which took place on August 22, 2024 in Osogbo, Osun State, marks a major milestone in the ongoing battle against intellectual property theft and online streaming piracy. The capture follows an extensive investigation that spanned several months. Despite efforts to evade detection by frequently changing locations, the IRT's relentless pursuit ensured the eventual arrest. The suspect remains in Police custody, with substantial evidence pointing to involvement in large-scale illegal streaming activities. If convicted, the suspect could face a prison sentence of up to five years.

    On Friday, Ronchess Global Resources Plc issued a detailed response to allegations published by Sahara Reporters on August 28th regarding road construction contracts awarded by the Kaduna State Government. The online publication had alleged that Pastor Adeolu Adeboye, a board member of Ronchess, was awarded contracts by the state government and that some of the projects were abandoned. The company also clarified that the Adebimpe Adeboye mentioned is not related to Pastor Adeolu Adeboye as erroneously claimed. Ronchess believes the publication deliberately targeted the Adeboyes due to the church leadership role of Pastor Adeolu’s father, Pastor Enoch Adeboye. Ronchess restated its legal rights against any inhuman treatment or arrest over civil disputes. It said the allegations are receiving the attention of its legal representatives for further actions. The company urged the public not to be misled by the claims made in the Sahara Reporters article.

Fire Knock Down Apartment At Lagos Government Staff Quarters Ogba

 A fire broke out early Friday morning at the Lagos State Government Staff Quarters on Odunsanmi Street, off WEMPCO Road in Ogba, Lagos, causing extensive damage to a two-bedroom apartment. The blaze, which started around 2:20 a.m., originated from an electrical surge in the children's room of one of the apartments in Flat 5, Block 21, within the two-story building, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).   The state Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, announced the reintroduction of the Ounje Eko Food Discount Market at a media briefing in Alausa, Ikeja. She stated that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the second phase of the 25% Ounje Eko Discount Market, which will run for at least eight consecutive weeks across 64 centers in Local Government Areas, the Alausa Secretariat, Lekki Phase One, and within campuses of state-owned tertiary institutions.
