Dangote Pavilion at the Abuja Trade Fair

Participants at the 2024 Abuja International Trade Fair (AITF) have flocked to the Dangote Group’s pavilion to learn more about the company’s operations and its newly operational oil refinery, which has begun discharging petroleum products. As one of the main sponsors of the 19th AITF, organized by the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Dangote Group showcased its various business units, including Dangote Fertiliser, Dangote Sugar, NASCON (Dangote Salt), and Dangote Cement.


Several attendees, including business owners like block moulder Peter Ibrahim, expressed interest in the economic opportunities presented by the Dangote Refinery. "I’m here to explore the job and business prospects at the refinery," he said. Cement dealer Sale Sagir shared similar sentiments, stating, "I came to see what it takes to become a distributor of Dangote Petroleum products."

Themed "Mobility Options for Transportation, Trade Financing, and Taxation," this year’s fair highlights various sectors driving Nigeria's economy. Speaking at Dangote Group’s Special Day, Fatima Wali-Abdurrahman, Senior Adviser to the Group President on Special Projects and Strategic Relations, emphasized the company's significant contributions to Nigeria’s economy through transportation, trade financing, and taxation.


She highlighted the construction of a jetty at the Lekki Free Zone to facilitate the import of bulk cargoes during the refinery’s construction, including one of the world’s largest cranes. "We are now exporting products to several African countries through this port, and we plan to transport petroleum products by sea to reduce road congestion," she added.


Additionally, Wali-Abdurrahman revealed the company’s ongoing investments in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to reduce carbon emissions, as well as its expansion into agriculture, with new products expected on the market soon.


ACCI President Chief Emeka Obegolu praised the Dangote Group as a key driver of Nigeria’s industrialization. Represented by Aisha Ado Abdullahi, ACCI Vice President Legal, Obegolu commended the company’s commitment to national development, particularly through its tax contributions that support infrastructure and social programs.


**Dangote Cement Empowers Nigerian SMEs**


In another development, Dangote Cement Plc, Obajana Plant, has bolstered the operational capacity of Jakura Marble Industry Ltd (JMIL) by handing over a 33 KV public electricity power line and transformer to the company. The project involved extending high-tension power lines from Oyo community, a distance of over 5 km, to JMIL’s facility.


Speaking at the ceremony, Engr. Azad Nawabuddin, Plant Director of Dangote Cement, explained that the new infrastructure will enable JMIL to access reliable electricity, reducing energy costs and boosting production capacity. "This creates opportunities for expansion and job creation, as JMIL can now deploy additional machinery," Nawabuddin said.

JMIL Managing Director, Engr. Tony Ojile, expressed gratitude for the timely delivery of the project and praised Dangote Cement's commitment to corporate social responsibility. The two companies conducted a site visit following the handover to inspect the new infrastructure and explore future collaborations
