Dangote truck causes fatalities and injuries in Lagos.

In a tragic incident in Lagos, three people have been confirmed dead after a Dangote truck, registered as DCG-TM-028, rammed into a shopping complex in the Epe area. The accident, which also left several others injured, occurred when the truck reportedly experienced brake failure while descending from Ita-Opo in Epe Local Government Area.

Speaking to journalists, Hon. Tobun Abiodun, the representative for Epe Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, described the incident as devastating. “A harrowing incident took place today at Ayetoro in Epe, claiming several lives and causing significant damage to property,” he said. The collision destroyed a building, a commercial tricycle, and a Toyota Camry parked within the complex.

Hon. Abiodun called upon the government to explore alternative routes for heavy trucks passing through Epe to reduce the frequency of accidents in the area. He also urged the authorities to install speed limits and traffic lights on this road to help regulate vehicle movement within the community. Additionally, he recommended the establishment of designated parking areas for trucks to prevent them from causing disruptions and endangering lives.

He further stressed the need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to restrict heavy trucks from entering densely populated areas. “After the accident, I contacted the police and Nigerian Army to deploy personnel to the scene to prevent looting and restore order,” he added.
