How Police Officers Demanded N2million For Bail - Muri Omi Hints IGP
By Ojo peter
The Senatorial Chairman of the Iba Gani Adams led Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) for the entire Ibadanland, Alhaji Muritala Ifawale Adekola (a.k.a E le Omo Buruku Danu), has called on Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Olakulehin Owolabi, the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, to as a matter of urgency ask his officers to release his boy that was unlawfully arrested.
He said: "I have a security outfit. I have a lot of clients within Apata that engages my services to protect their properties. Most of these clients own companies, eateries, petrol stations and farms. I have been into the business for over 20 years now.
According to him, on the 6th of February, 2025, at about 10pm, some police officers invaded one of my clients Endowered filling station at Apata, Ibadan. They were shooting sporadically to scare away people. They started harrasing, intimidating customers that came to buy fuel and at the end of the day arrested one of my workers who is a security guard at the petrol station, Mr Saheed Adelabu.
"The police officers took him to my house around 4:30am to search the house. The most awful thing was that, when they got to my house, they started knocking the door to the extent that the six month old baby by the name Jamal in the house went into shock and uptil today, we are still taking the baby to hospital for treatment.
"Mr Saheed was beaten mercilessly and dehumanizing by the police officers. He was whisked away after all said and done. We had to swiftly move in. We went to Apata Divisional Police headquarters that thinking they took him there but alas! he was not there. I made series of phone calls but i was told he wasn't in their place.
" The two officers and six others that came to arrest his worker. The Ofricer-in-Charge of Adeniji Adele division, CSP Shola Agboola with phone number 08151649614 and the (IPO) Lekan Afolayan with phone number 08035731285. They both came from SWAT at Adeniji Adele Division, Lagos. The most surprising thing that's baffling me now is that how on earth can police men come and arrest someone in Ibadan without booking at the nearest police station in that area?
"I really don't know my offense because this was how they did four years ago that they made me to gulp N1.5million upon unknown offence that I didn't commit. I have always been in the vanguard of helping your men to tackle the menace of armed robbers in Ibadan especially at Omi Ado. I could remember during the #EndSars saga in 2020, your men commissioned me to make sure nothing happened to their station at Omi Adio and it's environs. I made sure there was orderliness. I don't know why your men is after me and my life.
"I sent my lawyer to Lagos to bail my worker but unfortunately they didn't attend to him. Again, I later sent my cousin to meet them but they asked him to go and bring N2million for bail.
"When my lawyer asked the police officers to provide the petition and the petitioner, they refused blantany and instead, they started threatening us that if care is not taken, they will rope my worker for gun running.
"Today makes it eight days that he has been in their custody at Adeniji Adele police station in Lagos.
"Sir, am using this opportunity to call on President Tinubu, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and other well meaning Nigerians to rise up to the occasion before things get out of hand.
"I also want to call on Chief Justice of Oyo State and Lagos State to please intervene in the matter as I believe they were being sent by some landgrabbers of armed robbers to eliminate me for unknown cause.
