NSCDC LAGOS CONDEMNS VANDALISM, RITUAL KILLINGS, KIDNAPPING, FRAUD, AND OTHER SOCIAL VICES AT MAIDEN RAMADAN PUBLIC LECTURE

In a remarkable demonstration of commitment to societal reformation, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, held its inaugural Ramadan Public Lecture on Tuesday, 11th March 2025. The event, organized under the auspices of the Command’s Muslim Community, took place at the Command Headquarters and served as a platform for moral and ethical enlightenment.

Delivering his keynote address, the Lagos State Commandant, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, unequivocally condemned the distressing and reprehensible acts of violence and criminality pervading the society. He decried the alarming surge in ritual killings, kidnappings, fraudulent practices, vandalism, economic sabotage, and other forms of social vices that undermine the sanctity of human life and national development.

Seizing the solemnity of the Ramadan and Lenten seasons, the Commandant called upon the good people of Lagos State to embody the virtues espoused by the Holy Qur’an and the Holy Bible. He emphasized the teachings of love, harmony, unity, patience, tolerance, piety, modesty, vigilance, sobriety, and brotherhood—values essential for fostering a just and peaceful society.

The guest lecturer, Dr. Nurudeen Ibrahim, delivered a compelling discourse on the inviolability of human life, emphasizing that the unlawful taking of life is an abomination in all moral, ethical, and religious contexts. He passionately appealed to all Nigerians to renounce these barbaric practices, which have become distressingly prevalent in various parts of the country.

The NSCDC Lagos State Command was lauded for its intellectual initiative by the Honourable Member representing Agege II and Chairman of the event, Honourable Abdulkareem Jubril. He commended the Command for organizing an enlightening discourse aimed at sensitizing the public on the perils of crime and the urgent need to uphold moral rectitude.

The event was graced by several dignitaries, including the representative of the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Chief (Dr) Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo (Mother of the Day), the representative of the Special Guest, Honourable Oladeebo Olaide, and Sheikh (Dr) Ahmad Olanrewaju Al-Fulani. Also in attendance were esteemed representatives from various security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Nigeria Correctional Service, and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), alongside distinguished members of the press.

This gathering underscored the collective resolve to combat crime and elevate the value of human life in an increasingly challenging society. The NSCDC, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, remains steadfast in its mission to foster security, peace, and national development through continuous enlightenment and enforcement of the law.
