Nigeria Football Supporters Club Honours Pastor Ituah Ighodalo on His 64th Birthday**

 


Pastor Ituah Ighodalo has been honoured as a **Patron of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC)** during the 5th Annual Colloquium Lecture held in celebration of his 64th birthday at Trinity House, Lagos.  


The event brought together dignitaries, sports enthusiasts, and key stakeholders who recognized Pastor Ighodalo’s dedication to national development and his unwavering support for Nigerian sports.  


In his goodwill message, **Dr. Rafiu Ladipo**, President General of the NFSC, commended the insightful discussions at the colloquium and highlighted the club’s contributions to football. He recalled the NFSC’s recognition as the **Best Football Supporters’ Club by FIFA** in 1994 and 1996, as well as the **Best in Africa** in 2006, 2008, and 2010.  


**Pastor Ituah Ighodalo**, in his acceptance speech, expressed deep gratitude for the honour, acknowledging the responsibility that comes with the title. **"Honestly, you have made me very happy. I know this comes with a lot of responsibility, and I am committed to supporting this great club,"** he said. He praised the NFSC for its discipline, commitment, and patriotic spirit, recognizing its role in uplifting Nigerian football.  


Speaking on Nigeria’s football landscape, Pastor Ighodalo emphasized the need for **merit-based selections in sports and leadership**, urging for excellence over favoritism and tribal considerations. He also pledged his support for the NFSC’s upcoming **70th-anniversary celebrations**, calling on well-meaning Nigerians to contribute to the milestone event.  


Founded in **1955**, the **Nigeria Football Supporters Club** has played a pivotal role in fostering national unity and passion for football. Initially established to support Nigeria’s national football team, then known as the “Red Devils,” the NFSC has grown into a globally recognized organization.  


Despite facing leadership transitions and various challenges over the decades, the NFSC has continued to promote grassroots football and broader sports development initiatives. Under the leadership of **Ambassador Reverend Samuel Ikpea**, the club has received numerous accolades from FIFA and the **Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)** for its dedication to promoting Nigeria’s image through sports.  


The decoration ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including **Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, Ambassador Reverend Samuel Ikpea, High Chief Darlinghtyn Momoh Umoru**, and other key supporters of Nigerian football.  


Beyond celebrating Pastor Ighodalo’s birthday, the event reinforced the vital role of sports in **national unity, youth development, and international recognition**.
