Benue Killings: Governor Alia, Inspector General, and Commissioner of Police Must Resign – Prophet Ikuru
The Prophetic Hall of Fame and Peace Ambassador, Prophet Godwin Ikuru of the Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry, has expressed grave concern over the persistent security challenges plaguing Nigeria, particularly in Benue State. In a strongly worded statement, the cleric called for the immediate resignation of the Governor of Benue State, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, the State Commissioner of Police, and the Inspector General of Police.
According to Prophet Ikuru, Governor Alia has failed in his primary constitutional responsibility of safeguarding the lives and property of the citizens under his leadership.
“It is both disgraceful and deeply disheartening that Governor Alia has so woefully failed in his core duty as the chief security officer of Benue State. He has not been able to guarantee the safety of his people. It is a national embarrassment. Nobody wishes to visit Benue anymore. Farmers are being massacred daily; communities are being invaded and decimated with alarming ease, and the governor appears helpless. He is unworthy of governing the Food Basket of the Nation — a state that now struggles to even feed itself. Governor Alia must resign,” he declared.
Prophet Ikuru also called for the resignation of the Inspector General of Police, lamenting the overall failure of the Nigeria Police Force in curbing the wave of insecurity across the country.
“The Commissioner of Police in Benue, along with the Inspector General of Police, should step down. They have failed the Nigerian people. Beyond Benue, we see similar patterns of violence and insecurity in Plateau, Zamfara, Borno, Katsina, Sokoto, Yobe, Edo, and many other states. The painful truth is that no part of Nigeria can be considered truly safe today. This is a clear indication that the police have failed in their mandate to ensure internal security. One must ask: what are the IGP, the Intelligence Response Team, and other security agencies doing? The nation requires urgent and radical change if we are to protect lives and property effectively.”
The fiery prophet concluded with a passionate appeal for responsible leadership and a reformation of the country’s security architecture to restore confidence and peace among the populace
