Lagos Lawmaker, Hon. Seyi Lawal Pledges Inclusive Development at 10th Constituency Stakeholders' Meeting
The Lagos State House of Assembly Member representing Ikeja Constituency 1, Hon. Prince Seyi Lawal, has reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance and community development, promising to ensure that the most vulnerable in his constituency benefit from government initiatives.
This assurance came during the 10th Lagos State House of Assembly Constituency Stakeholders' Meeting held on Thursday at the Green Life Event Center, Oregun, simultaneously convened across all 40 constituencies of the state.
Delivering the keynote address, Hon. Lawal welcomed constituents and read the message from the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa. The Speaker reiterated the Assembly’s dedication to the welfare and well-being of all Lagosians, emphasizing that the House would not relent until the dividends of democracy are felt in every corner of the state.
"The House remains fervently committed to the welfare and well-being of every single Lagosian. We will not rest on our oars until the impact of governance is felt everywhere," Lawal quoted the Speaker as saying.
Highlighting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, Lawal described it as a deliberate strategy for national recovery and economic growth, aimed at lifting millions out of poverty by unlocking opportunities for Nigerians across all demographics.
In his own constituency, Hon. Lawal shared his recent initiatives, including the distribution of 600 JAMB forms to students, the facilitation of employment for six youths—including placements in the TESCOM office—and the commissioning of two boreholes in Onigbongbo constituency.
He encouraged residents to approach his office with development concerns, assuring them that “his door remains open” to all constituents.
Lawal also acknowledged the impact of national and state-level initiatives, particularly in the structural, energy, and environmental sectors, where policies have attracted investment, promoted technology adoption, and prioritized sustainability.
He praised the efforts of the First Lady’s programs across the country, which have provided empowerment support for women, children, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups.
The event also featured an interactive session, where residents voiced their concerns and made requests. Mr. Shobowale called for the repair and expansion of a local canal, while Mrs. Funke Adeola appealed for government intervention in the Olusosun area. Residents of Onlekere expressed gratitude to Hon. Lawal for youth scholarships and the provision of borehole water.
A representative of the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) community called for more attention and inclusion in future programs.
Also present at the event were notable figures including the Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA, Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo; Former Commissioner Adeniyi Oyebade; Onigbongbo Apex Leader Dr. Sopeyin; and HRM Oba Dr. Olusesan Akindola, the Olu of Onigbongbo Town.
In his remarks, Hon. Adebanjo commended the participatory spirit of the event, urging all residents to make meaningful contributions to ensure continuous community development.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment by stakeholders to work collaboratively towards the socio-economic upliftment of Ikeja Constituency 1 and Lagos State at large.
