Dr. Segun Musa Marks 2026 Birthday with ₦1m Donation at Ikeja General Hospital
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Widescope Group and Founder of the Dr. Segun Musa Foundation, Amb. Dr. Oluwasegun Musa, marked his 2026 birthday with an act of philanthropy at the Maternal and Child Ward of Ikeja General Hospital, Ayinke House, Lagos.
Dr. Musa was received by medical and non-medical staff with songs and a surprise birthday cake, turning the visit into an emotional moment of celebration and gratitude. Rather than a private festivity, the business leader once again chose to spend his birthday with vulnerable women and children in need of urgent care.
During the visit, he announced a ₦1 million support package to assist critical maternal and child health cases in the hospital. The intervention, he said, would also cover beneficiaries not previously listed, underscoring his belief that support should reach those who need it most, without conditions.
Speaking with journalists, Dr. Musa said his commitment to humanitarian service spans more than two decades. He explained that his relationship with Ikeja General Hospital and similar facilities dates back over 15 years.
“I have been coming to this hospital and others for over 15 years to support children and families who need urgent attention. If there is a case that needs immediate help, we respond. This is not new to me; it is who I am,” he said.
Although the Dr. Segun Musa Foundation formally assumed responsibility for structured interventions only last year, he noted that his passion for social impact predates the establishment of the foundation.
Guided by faith and inspired by Rotary ideals, Dr. Musa described giving as both a responsibility and a source of joy. According to him, true happiness lies in helping others and recognizing that personal abundance is meant to benefit the wider community.
“Whatever abundance you have does not belong to you alone. It belongs to your family and to those around you,” he said.
He stressed that his philanthropy comes with no expectations or conditions. “Support should not have conditions. It is simply a way to thank God, to glorify Him, and to put smiles on faces,” he added.
Dr. Musa also used the occasion to encourage Nigerians to cultivate a culture of generosity, noting that giving should be seen as an investment rather than a loss.
“Giving is not a loss; it is a saving. You will get it back—directly or indirectly. Cultivate the habit of giving,” he advised.
A respected figure in logistics and maritime development, Dr. Musa is widely regarded as a leader known for ethical business practices and unwavering commitment to humanity.
As he marked another year, his birthday visit served as a reminder that true celebration is defined not by fanfare, but by the impact made on lives and communities.
