A coalition of civil society organizations (CSOs) in Kosofe Local Government has officially endorsed Mayor Dele Oshinowo as the most qualified aspirant to represent Kosofe Federal Constituency in the National Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced during a formal press briefing convened by the coalition as part of its mandate to promote accountability, participatory democracy, and evidence-based civic engagement within the constituency.
The event brought together representatives from civil society groups, media organizations, policy advocates, and community stakeholders. Discussions focused on governance benchmarks such as infrastructure development, socio-economic impact, administrative efficiency, and responsiveness to citizens’ needs.
According to the coalition, its position followed a comprehensive review of governance outcomes, particularly in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA between 2017 and 2025 under Oshinowo’s leadership as Executive Chairman.
The group highlighted several key achievements during his tenure, including significant infrastructural expansion, development of administrative and legislative complexes, and modernization of local markets. It also pointed to economic and housing initiatives that reportedly boosted job creation and increased internally generated revenue.
Other areas of impact cited include water and sanitation projects—especially a multi-community industrial borehole scheme—road network improvements, and sustained investment in education through school construction and student support programs.
The coalition further noted advancements in primary healthcare delivery, youth empowerment initiatives, environmental management efforts such as drainage maintenance and canal dredging, and digital innovation through the establishment of a co-creation hub for young people.
Following deliberations at a stakeholders’ meeting held on April 15, 2026, the coalition said it reached a unanimous decision based on empirical evaluation and verifiable governance records.
It stated that Oshinowo’s track record demonstrates “consistent public service anchored on delivery, innovation, and accountability,” adding that his performance places him ahead of other aspirants across political lines.
The CSOs also expressed confidence that his governance experience at the local level could be effectively translated into legislative representation at the federal level.
Calling on residents of Kosofe Federal Constituency to make informed choices, the coalition urged voters to prioritize competence, integrity, and proven performance in the upcoming electoral process.
“This statement reflects our commitment to strengthening democratic values and ensuring leadership outcomes align with the aspirations of the people,” the coalition said.
The briefing concluded with a reaffirmation of support for Oshinowo, describing him as the aspirant best positioned to deliver effective representation at the National Assembly.
