Prophet Ikuru Urges Unity, Backs Tinubu Ahead of 2027 Elections

The founder of Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry, Godwin Ikuru, has called for national unity and an end to rising insecurity across Nigeria, urging citizens to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, Ikuru commended the president’s performance since taking office in 2023, stating that several campaign promises have been fulfilled. He emphasized that unity and stability remain essential for sustained national development.

Addressing the recent wave of violence in parts of the country, particularly in Plateau State and Benue State, the cleric condemned the attacks, warning that insecurity continues to threaten Nigeria’s progress. He urged those responsible to desist from acts of violence.

Ikuru also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and political stakeholders across party lines—including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party, and African Democratic Congress (ADC)—to work together to promote peace and stability. He stressed that political differences should not override national interest.

Responding to criticism of the administration over rising living costs, Ikuru argued that the president should not be solely blamed for increasing prices, noting that Nigeria relies heavily on imported goods. He maintained that ongoing economic reforms are gradually stabilizing the system.

Highlighting what he described as key achievements of the administration, Ikuru cited the removal of fuel subsidy, the introduction of the student loan scheme, efforts toward local government autonomy, ongoing coastal road projects, and improved bilateral relations. He added that reducing import dependence and strengthening fiscal policies, including tax enforcement, are critical for long-term economic growth.

The cleric reiterated his confidence in Tinubu’s leadership, recalling that he had predicted the president’s victory ahead of the 2023 election. He expressed optimism that Tinubu would secure re-election in 2027 and continue to drive national progress.

On security, Ikuru urged the Nigerian Air Force to intensify its operations against insurgency and ensure greater transparency regarding recent coordinated efforts in northern Nigeria that reportedly resulted in multiple casualties.

He concluded by calling on Nigerians to reject divisive rhetoric, embrace unity, and work collectively toward building a peaceful and prosperous nation.
