The Southwest Coordinator of the Remi Tinubu Support Group (RETSO), Hon. Adegoke Iyiade, has called for sustained grassroots mobilization and unity across the region in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the RETSO Southwest Zonal Rally held on Thursday, Iyiade urged supporters to consolidate what he described as a “historic political achievement” by ensuring the re-election of the president for a second term.
Addressing a large gathering of party loyalists, community leaders, and supporters, Iyiade expressed gratitude to the national leadership of RETSO for entrusting him with the responsibility of coordinating activities in the Southwest zone. He described the support group as a “socio-political movement driven by conviction and belief in the Renewed Hope agenda.”
The coordinator highlighted key policy decisions of the Tinubu administration since assuming office in May 2023, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market. According to him, these reforms, though initially challenging, have laid the foundation for long-term economic stability and growth.
He also cited initiatives such as the Student Loan Act, infrastructure development projects, and ongoing social investment programmes as evidence of progress under the current administration. Iyiade maintained that these efforts are beginning to yield tangible results across various sectors, including agriculture, security, and education.
“The 2027 election is not just another electoral cycle; it is a referendum on whether Nigeria will stay the course of reform and transformation,” he said, urging supporters to begin early preparations.
Iyiade called on RETSO members to intensify voter registration drives, counter misinformation, and expand outreach to grassroots communities across the six Southwest states. He emphasized the importance of youth engagement and collaboration with the All Progressives Congress (APC) structure.
In his remarks, he also paid tribute to Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, describing her as a “symbol of service and compassion” whose Renewed Hope Initiative has impacted vulnerable populations nationwide.
The rally, themed “Renewed Hope, Renewed Mandate,” served as a platform to galvanize support for the administration while reinforcing the Southwest’s role in Nigeria’s democratic development.
Iyiade concluded by urging supporters to remain steadfast, stating that RETSO would work tirelessly to secure what he described as a “resounding victory” for President Tinubu and the APC in 2027.
