Abiru Wins APC Lagos East Ticket Unopposed, Pledges Continued Service

Tokunbo Abiru, the senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general elections after winning the party’s primary unopposed.

Abiru secured all 344 votes cast by delegates during the primary election held on Saturday at CMD, Magodo, Lagos, with no invalid vote recorded.

The returning officer for the exercise, Fouad Oki, declared the process free, fair and in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act.

Speaking after his emergence, Abiru expressed gratitude to party leaders and members across the district for their confidence in his leadership, promising to remain committed to his “#DoingGood” agenda.

“I want to let you know that I will continue to be passionate about ensuring greater good for a greater and larger number,” the senator said.

He described the nomination as both an honour and a recognition of the efforts made during his time in office, assuring constituents that he would continue to prioritise development and effective representation.

“Haven received this affirmation from the party and our people, I would like to assure you that I will remain guided by the priorities and commitment to this cause which I have constantly asserted in the course of the exercise of this sacred mandate,” he added.

Abiru also appreciated party members and stakeholders across Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Ikorodu, Kosofe and Somolu for their support and contributions to his representation at the National Assembly.

Also speaking, Wuraola Animashaun, chairman of Epe Local Government Area, congratulated the senator on his victory, noting that the peaceful outcome reflected the confidence and support he enjoys among party members and constituents.

“The election is a good one since there is no opposition, which is due to the love they have for the sitting senator which is immeasurable,” she said.

Animashaun added that Abiru’s performance in office had endeared him to the people, stating that many party members would continue to support his leadership because of his representation at the National Assembly.
