A governorship aspirant in Lagos State, Samuel Ajose, has withdrawn from the 2027 governorship race and declared support for Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election.

Mr Ajose announced his decision on Tuesday while addressing supporters in Lagos, saying his withdrawal was aimed at strengthening party unity and consolidating support for Mr Hamzat’s anticipated bid.

According to him, backing the deputy governor would help sustain continuity in governance and ensure the progress of Lagos State under the ruling All Progressives Congress.

He urged his supporters and party loyalists to rally behind Mr Hamzat as preparations begin ahead of the APC governorship primary for the 2027 election.

The development is expected to reshape early political alignments within the Lagos APC as consultations and endorsements continue among party stakeholders.
