The Alimosho League of Obas and Baales, led by the Oba of Akesan Kingdom and Secretary of Obas in Lagos State, His Royal Majesty, Oba Nojeemdeen Abidemi Aberejo, alongside some council chairmen led by the Executive Chairman of Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area, Snr. Comr. Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya, have held a closed-door meeting with the Lagos State party chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, over alleged moves to tamper with the outcome of last Saturday’s House of Representatives primary election.

The high-level meeting followed widespread rumours circulating on social media alleging that certain elements within the political party are attempting to change the result of the primary election in favour of Hon. Olabisi Adebajo, popularly known as ABISCO.

Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba Esq., the current member representing the federal constituency in the House of Representatives, was declared winner of the primary election, securing the party’s ticket for a second term after what party supporters described as a landslide victory across all the 11 wards in the constituency.

According to the official figures from the exercise, Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba polled 37,021 votes to defeat other aspirants in the race, while Hon. Olabisi Adebajo scored 2,793 votes.

The alleged plot to overturn the result has since generated tension and reactions among party faithful and political stakeholders within Alimosho, with many insisting that the mandate freely given by delegates and party members must be respected.

Sources close to the meeting disclosed that the traditional rulers and council chairmen expressed concern over the rumours and stressed the need for the party leadership to uphold transparency, justice, and the will of the majority.

Although details of the deliberations were not officially made public, political observers believe the intervention of the monarchs and local government leaders was aimed at maintaining peace and unity within the party ahead of the general elections.

As of the time of filing this report, the party leadership has yet to issue an official statement regarding the allegations making rounds on social media.
