APC Reps Primary in Lagos Mainland Disrupted by Alleged Irregularities

The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election held on Saturday in Lagos Mainland was disrupted by allegations of widespread irregularities, voter intimidation and interference across several voting centres.
The affected areas reportedly included Apapa Road, Makoko, Iwaya and Adekunle, where party members and delegates were allegedly prevented from participating freely in the exercise.
Eyewitnesses and party loyalists accused supporters of aspirant Kazeem Omolaja of disrupting the election by allegedly forcing out delegates believed to be loyal to Hon. Abdulhakeem Animashaun from various polling centres.
The incidents created tension and confusion during the exercise, as aggrieved party members accused certain APC leaders of attempting to influence the outcome in favour of a preferred candidate.
Supporters of Hon. Abdulhakeem Animashaun also alleged that loyalists of the local government chairman, Hon. Emilagba, compromised the credibility of the process through acts they described as electoral malpractice.
Among the complaints raised was the alleged failure to use official APC membership voter cards for accreditation and voting, a development critics said undermined the transparency and credibility of the primary election.
Speaking after the exercise, some supporters of Animashaun rejected the outcome of the election, insisting that the process fell short of acceptable democratic standards.
“We reject whatever outcome emerges from today’s election because the process was flawed and manipulated,” one protesting supporter said.
The aggrieved members called on the APC leadership to investigate the allegations and ensure justice for all aspirants and their supporters.
Security personnel were reportedly deployed to some of the affected centres to maintain order and prevent further escalation of the situation.
As of the time of filing this report, the APC leadership in Lagos Mainland had not issued any official statement regarding the allegations and disruption that marred the exercise.
The incident has raised concerns among party members over the credibility of the APC’s internal electoral process ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
