APC Stakeholders Back Animashahun, Urge Tinubu to Enforce Zoning in Lagos Mainland
Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yaba, Ebute Metta West and Ebute Metta East have endorsed Abdulakeem Omolaja Animashahun ahead of the party’s primary election for the Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency seat, while calling on Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure zoning and equitable representation within the constituency.
The endorsement was made during the official flag-off of Animashahun’s campaign, which attracted party leaders, grassroots mobilisers, community stakeholders and supporters from across Lagos Mainland.
At the event, stakeholders decried what they described as the 27-year political marginalisation of Ebute Metta West, insisting that fairness, inclusiveness and justice should guide the emergence of the APC candidate for the House of Representatives seat.
They also reaffirmed their loyalty to President Tinubu and pledged support for his second-term bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the gathering, Dr. Segun Oshile reflected on his family’s political history in Yaba and Lagos Mainland, recalling the contributions of his grandfather, the late J.B. Oshile, to politics in the area.
According to him, his political experience dating back to the old Action Group and the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) shaped his belief in supporting grassroots-oriented leaders committed to public service.
Oshile described Animashahun as humble, accessible and visionary, adding that the aspirant possesses the leadership qualities required to provide effective representation for the people of Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency.
Other speakers at the event stressed the importance of electing competent representatives capable of addressing community challenges and advancing development initiatives across the constituency.
Mr. Anthony Clever noted that the constituency would benefit from a representative with legal expertise and strong grassroots ties, while Hon. John Obalade and Mr. Femu Olayide emphasised the need to strengthen local government administration and expand social intervention programmes for residents.
They maintained that quality representation at the National Assembly would complement ongoing developmental efforts within communities across Lagos Mainland.
The stakeholders further urged APC members and delegates to participate actively in the party’s primary election scheduled for May 15, calling for unity and overwhelming support for Animashahun’s aspiration.
Addressing supporters, Animashahun thanked party faithful and residents for their confidence in his leadership, stating that his ambition is driven by a commitment to deliver people-oriented and inclusive representation.
He said his agenda would focus on youth empowerment, skills acquisition, women inclusion and economic opportunities aimed at improving the socio-economic wellbeing of constituents.
Animashahun also assured residents that, if elected, he would pursue policies and programmes that directly address grassroots concerns while maintaining regular engagement with the people.
