Awori Group Warns APC Against Undermining Ayuba’s Victory in Alimosho Reps Primary

The Awori Concerned Citizens in Alimosho Federal Constituency have warned against any alleged attempt to deny Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba his victory in the recently conducted All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election in the constituency.

The group described Ayuba’s emergence as the APC candidate as both a democratic victory and a historic milestone for the Awori people in Alimosho Federal Constituency.

Speaking on behalf of the group after consultations with stakeholders, community leaders, party faithful, and indigenes, the head of the group and leader of all Awori youth leaders (Olori-Odo), Hon. Chief Akinwande Ganiyu, said the victory marked the first time in the current political dispensation that an indigene of Awori extraction would emerge as the party’s candidate for the House of Representatives seat in the constituency.

According to him, the Awori Concerned Citizens and Olori-Odo Awori Parapo have consistently supported the progressive ideals of the APC and remain committed to democratic principles.

He noted that Hon. Ayuba secured an overwhelming victory in the primary election, polling 37,021 votes against 2,793 votes recorded by his closest rival, Hon. Olabisi Adebajo.

The group maintained that any attempt to overturn or frustrate the mandate freely given to Ayuba would amount to an assault on justice, fairness, equity, and the established political understanding within the constituency.

They recalled that Alimosho Federal Constituency has maintained a long-standing rotational arrangement between Constituency 01 and Constituency 02 in producing representatives for the House of Representatives, describing the arrangement as one that has promoted political stability, fairness, unity, and peaceful coexistence.

According to the group, previous representatives from Constituency 01 were allowed to complete their constitutionally permitted two terms without interference, adding that Constituency 02 should be accorded the same opportunity in the interest of equity and justice.

The Awori Concerned Citizens also described the APC primary election held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, as peaceful, transparent, credible, and widely accepted by party members and stakeholders across the constituency.

They stated that the wide margin recorded in the election reflected the confidence and popularity enjoyed by Ayuba among delegates and party faithful in Alimosho Federal Constituency.

The group further warned that any effort to subvert the democratic process or disregard the wishes of party members could create unnecessary political tension, weaken confidence in internal democracy, and encourage political apathy within the constituency.

They therefore called on the leadership of the APC to uphold justice, transparency, and fairness by respecting the outcome of the primary election and protecting the mandate given to Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba.

The group also appealed to traditional rulers, youths, women groups, party faithful, and residents of the constituency to remain calm, united, and law-abiding while continuing to support Ayuba’s candidature in the interest of peace, development, and progress.

Reaffirming their position, the Awori Concerned Citizens stated that the mandate secured by Hon. Ayuba represents the collective aspiration of the people and should be protected in the interest of democratic integrity, inclusiveness, justice, and the unity of Alimosho Federal Constituency.
