May Day: Oyo Head of Service Urges Workers to Redouble Efforts, Commends Welfare Gains

 



The Oyo State Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, mni has congratulated workers across the state on the occasion of this year’s May Day celebration, urging them to redouble their efforts in delivering quality service to the people.


In a statement issued and signed in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni described Oyo State workers as resilient and hardworking, noting that their commitment remains vital to the continued progress of the state.


She stated that the present administration in the State led by Governor Seyi Makinde, has consistently demonstrated its commitment to workers’ welfare, describing it as a “talk and do government.”  which has prioritized initiatives that directly benefit Civil and Public Servants.


The Head of Service listed key achievements of the administration to include regular and timely payment of salaries and allowances, prompt disbursement of leave bonuses across all cadres and up-to-date promotions for workers. 


She pointed out that the recruitment of fresh graduates into various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, as well as the consistent payment of pensions and gratuities to retirees is a welcome development in Oyo State.


“We are truly setting the pace in Oyo State, for the past seven years, workers have consistently received their salaries on or before the 25th of every month". 


She expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for prioritizing workers welfare, assuring that the workforce would remain committed and appreciative.


The Head of Service further attributed the cordial relationship between the state government and labour unions to the regular welfare packages provided to workers. Just as she commended labour leaders in the state for their role in advocating for improved working conditions and encouraged them to sustain their collaboration with the government to secure additional benefits for workers.


Mrs. Oni then reaffirmed the present administration’s commitment to improving workers welfare and called on civil servants to support government policies aimed at enhancing the standard of living for all residents of Oyo State.
