The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly and All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives aspirant for Agege Constituency, Mudashiru Obasa, has described the party’s primaries held on Saturday as peaceful and a reflection of strong internal democracy within the APC.
Obasa made the remarks shortly after casting his vote at his ward in Agege at about 1 p.m., where he was welcomed by a large crowd of party supporters and residents.
Speaking with journalists after voting, the lawmaker commended the leadership of the APC for what he described as a successful and orderly exercise.
“This is a fantastic exercise and a very good development and a new direction,” Obasa said.
“We appreciate the National Chairman of APC and his team, as well as party leaders in Lagos State. Though we are still awaiting reports from other wards, I believe the process will remain peaceful as well.”
Obasa also reacted to the decision of some aspirants to step down during the course of the primaries, saying such moves would strengthen party unity ahead of future elections.
“It is good for the unity of the party. APC has the characteristics of coming together after every disagreement. This is a pre-election; the main election is coming in 2027,” he stated.
The APC primaries across Lagos State are part of preparations for the forthcoming general elections, with party leaders expressing confidence in the credibility and peaceful conduct of the process.
