Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA Champions Greener Future with Tree Planting Initiative
Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability with a tree-planting exercise aimed at promoting a greener and healthier community.
Speaking during the event, the Council Chairman emphasized that the initiative aligns with the Lagos State Government’s environmental agenda and called on residents to embrace tree planting and preservation as a collective responsibility. She stressed that achieving a sustainable environment requires the active participation of every member of the community.
The programme attracted a wide range of stakeholders, including Mrs. Margaret Ayanyompe; the Vice Chairman, Hon. Kehinde Shobayo; the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Wasiu Aduragbemi; the Council Manager, Dr. Osodipe Oladapo; Baales from various communities; the Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Comrade Ernest Kasumu; councillors, party leaders, management staff, directors, community leaders, students and residents.
The highlight of the event was the symbolic planting of tree seedlings within the Council Secretariat by the Executive Chairman, the representative of the Commissioner and other dignitaries. The exercise underscored the Council’s determination to promote environmental conservation and build a greener, healthier and more resilient Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA.
At the end of the programme, participants pledged to sustain the initiative beyond the annual celebration by planting and nurturing more trees in homes, schools, workplaces and public spaces. The commitment reinforces Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA’s growing reputation as a leading advocate of environmental sustainability in Lagos State.
