The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has intensified its preparations for the 2027 general elections with the unveiling of a new grassroots mobilisation initiative aimed at strengthening the party's support base across the state.

The initiative, christened "2027 Elections: Waking the Giant Votes in Lagos," was launched in Ikeja, Lagos, under the platform of the Lagos Grassroots Alliance (LGA), with Hon. Owolabi Jamiu Falana serving as its convener.

The campaign is designed to reinforce the APC's structures across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State while expanding the party's reach to more communities and voter groups.

Addressing party members and supporters at the event, APC leaders said the initiative would focus on grassroots engagement, voter mobilisation and strengthening the party's electoral fortunes ahead of the 2027 polls. They stressed that all activities would be conducted within the provisions of the Constitution and the principles of democratic governance.

Discussions at the launch centred on strengthening the party's grassroots structures, reaffirming support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's leadership, mobilising support for the governorship ambition of Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and broadening the party's engagement with entrepreneurs, market women, students, youths and other stakeholders.

The speakers also underscored the importance of sustained voter education, membership recruitment and active participation in party activities as key strategies for achieving electoral success.

Representing the Deputy Governor at the event, the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, urged party faithful to remain united and committed to the APC's vision of inclusive governance and grassroots development.

Among the dignitaries at the event was the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Community Engagement (South-West), Moremi Ojudu, who represented the Presidency.

She commended the Lagos Grassroots Alliance for the initiative and expressed confidence that the Tinubu administration would continue to deliver democratic dividends to Nigerians while strengthening the party's connection with the people.

The APC leadership said the new mobilisation drive reflects the party's determination to consolidate its political dominance in Lagos State and position itself strongly for victory in the 2027 general elections.
