At the grand 90th birthday celebration of Pa Ademola Salami, a man revered for his selfless service to Lagos, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu honored the former chairman of the old Ikeja Local Government Area with a remarkable gift— a brand new car. The event, which was organized by Honorable Kafilat Ogbara, Member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Kosofe Federal Constituency, brought together a host of dignitaries and celebrated a legacy of dedication and service to the state.

In her address, Hon. Kafilat Ogbara expressed her deep gratitude to the governor for his show of love and recognition of Pa Salami’s contributions. “This gesture is proof that the Lagos State government values and remembers those who have served our state selflessly,” she said. She also urged everyone present to care for their elderly, emphasizing the importance of honoring those who have walked before us. “Whatever we do for the elderly, we do for ourselves, because we will all reach that stage,” she reminded the audience, while also highlighting her own recent project—a newly built relaxation center for the elderly in Omole Phase II.

The celebration, which was a blend of elegance and class, saw the presence of prominent figures, including GAC leader Alhaji Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, who personally handed over the keys of the car to Pa Salami on behalf of Governor Sanwo-Olu. Several royal fathers also graced the occasion, adding a regal touch to the event.

The atmosphere was one of joy and gratitude, especially from the celebrant himself. Pa Ademola Salami, filled with emotion, thanked Governor Sanwo-Olu for the thoughtful gift, expressing his deep appreciation for being remembered for his service to Lagos. “I served this state with all my might, not looking for what to take but to give,” Pa Salami shared, recalling his time in government where he was known for his integrity and dedication to public service. He also called on the audience to help him appreciate Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, whom he described as a unique and compassionate human being.

Pa Salami’s children and grandchildren were present to celebrate this milestone with him, standing by his side as he was honored for his contributions to the state. The event's testimony section was wrapped up by Alhaji Olusi, who shared fond memories of working alongside Pa Salami, recalling his remarkable integrity and commitment during his tenure. The celebration was a beautiful testament to a life well-lived in service to Lagos, reminding everyone of the power of dedication, humility, and selflessness in public office.
