Everything that has a beginning, must always have an end; this was the case at the Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology, Eleyele, Ibadan as eight academic and non- academic staff retired from the College, including four oldest serving Environmental Health tutors, who had served the government for forty years.
The latest retirees who were sent off with much pomp and pageantry were Sanitarians Olugbemiga Samson Makinde, Oluwole Gbolagade Afolabi, Toyin Adebimpe Jegede and Mary Titilayo Ogunsanya.
Others are Dr Oluwatoyin Temitope Oladejo, a Primary Healthcare Tutor, Mr. Timothy Adetunji, Mr. Agboade Anisere and Mr Gbenga Adejumo, who were non- academic staff from the Works department.
Addressing the invitees, staff and students of the College at the Retirement and Send off Ceremony held in the College Hall, the PROVOST of the College, Mrs Oluyemisi Moradeke Oyewo applauded the retirees for their dedication, commitment and the passion with which they performed their duties in the course of their service in the College, noting with delight that they had left indelible marks and vacuums that will be difficult to fill, even in years to come.
Mrs Oyewo said retirement is a significant milestone signifying the end of a chapter and the beginning of a new one filled with new expectations, opportunities, challenges, leisure and quality time to spend with their loved ones. She prayed that God will continue to uphold, strengthen, order their steps, preserve them and prosper them in their future endeavours.
Also speaking at the occasion, the College Registrar, Mrs Oladupe Ayoola eulogized the sterling qualities of the retirees, thanking them for contributing their quota in various ways to the development and progress of the College.
