Osun APC Chieftain, Hon. Sunday Akere, Urges PDP to Comply with Court of Appeal Ruling

Sunday Akere, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Commissioner for Information in Osun State, has called on the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to respect and comply with the ruling of the Court of Appeal. He made this appeal in Osogbo during a media chat with Distinct News Online . Akere recalled that in 2022, shortly before the end of the administration led by Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, a local government election was conducted in Osun State. However, approximately one or two weeks before the PDP assumed power, the party, along with other opposition groups, challenged the election in court. They filed a case before the Federal High Court, despite the fact that, according to the Nigerian Constitution, the Federal High Court lacks jurisdiction over local government matters. Oyo Govt Flags-Off Health Insurance Scheme For Primary School Pupils

  The Oyo State government has officially flagged off the enrollment of 10,000 basic school pupils into the state’s healthcare insurance scheme. The children, enrolled from 90 schools across 18 LGAs were presented their Insurance scheme ID cards on Thursday at the Ibadan Civic center, Idi-ape, Ibadan, by the Deputy Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal. The Deputy Governor said the enrolment was part of the Oyo state government's effort towards ensuring its pupils are of sound minds.  * The Oyo State Ministry Controlled Schools in Oyo Federal Constituency on Thursday held her  maiden Zonal Inter-House Athletics Competition.  The Competition which was held at the Ministry Controlled Basic School, ADEBIMPE, Oyo,was  aimed at promoting physical education, teamwork, and healthy competition among students.  The inter-house sport format allows students to represent their respective school houses, fostering a sense of belonging and promoting team spirit. The Ministry Controlled Schools consist of AGUO,ABUJAKAN, ADEBIMPE AND ONIYANRIN, Oyo. It would be recalled that in 2024, the Oyo State Government ordered the reopening of 23 schools in the Atiba, Afijio, Oyo East and Oyo West local government areas of the state, 10 years after they were shut down over land disputes.
