This disclosure was made by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, during a press conference held at the Senate Chamber, Ojo Campus, Lagos, to formally commence the convocation activities.

The convocation ceremony is scheduled to take place from the 3rd to the 10th of April.

“As an institution, we take immense pride in the opportunity to send forth another cohort of market-ready, solution-driven graduates—individuals thoroughly equipped to contribute meaningfully to both national and international development,” Professor Olatunji-Bello remarked.

She revealed that 971 students would be graduating with diploma qualifications this year. The classification of these graduates includes 123 distinctions, 550 upper credits, 287 lower credits, and 11 passes.

These honours recognise their invaluable contributions to the development of LASU and to the nation at large.

Moreover, the university shall elevate one of its esteemed and long-serving academics, Professor Joseph Olagunju, to the prestigious rank of Distinguished Professor.

In a notable highlight, the Vice-Chancellor announced Miss Nwosu Isioma of the Department of Biochemistry as the overall best graduating student, having achieved a remarkable Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.93—graduating with First Class Honours.

Professor Olatunji-Bello also proudly declared that LASU had secured full accreditation for 43 out of the 44 academic programmes presented during the most recent accreditation exercise, held between October and November 2023. Only one course was granted interim accreditation.

She remarked, “The results of the accreditation exercise, released in June 2024, affirm that all courses at LASU meet the highest academic standards, in alignment with the foremost strategic goal of our administration.”

Professor Olatunji-Bello concluded by reaffirming the university’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation, asserting LASU’s ambition to emerge as the foremost institution of higher learning in West Africa. “We continue to advance along the path of quality teaching and cutting-edge research, which have yielded numerous notable achievements,” she said.
