Mosan-Okunola LCDA Chairman Marks 100 Days in Office, Showcases Landmark Achievements

The Executive Chairman of Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Akindele Adunni Opeyemi, on Friday, November 28, 2025, marked her administration’s first 100 days in office with the rollout of a comprehensive scorecard detailing major developmental strides across all sectors of the council.

Speaking at the council secretariat during a ceremony attended by traditional rulers, party leaders, stakeholders and residents, Opeyemi described the journey since her July 27 inauguration as one of “renewal and restoration” for a community that had endured “years of stagnation and halted progress.”

She reaffirmed that her administration had delivered 90% of its campaign promises under the L.E.A.D.E.R.S.H.I.P. blueprint, which aligns with the Lagos State government’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda. She praised her vice chairman, Hon. Akintola Falade, the legislative council and staff for what she called “a collective achievement.”

Infrastructure & Power

Under the Light Up Mosan Okunola Project, the chairman announced that the secretariat now runs on solar power after eight years of dependence on generators. Several newly constructed and rehabilitated roads have also been fitted with solar-powered streetlights to boost security and stimulate nightlife commerce.

Education Interventions

Opeyemi highlighted significant investment in education under the Education for Every Child programme. The LCDA provided ICT and digital marketing training for school leavers, distributed GCE forms to indigent students, and gave out ten notebooks to every child in public primary schools.

The council also renovated several public school facilities, constructed modern toilets, rebuilt collapsed fences, installed gates and established sickbays—making Mosan-Okunola the first LCDA in the Alimosho Federal Constituency to implement such facilities.

Healthcare Expansion

The chairman announced that primary healthcare centres have been upgraded with essential drugs and restored to 24-hour service. A new ambulance was presented during the event, and the secretariat staff clinic has been restocked.

A free medical outreach accompanied the celebration, offering screenings for cancers, hepatitis, HIV, dental health and general wellness. The council also donated ₦10 million toward the kidney transplant of a 13-year-old resident, Alfred Akande.

Youth & Sports Development

Opeyemi said her administration has begun implementing its youth empowerment and sports agenda by hosting novelty matches, supporting school inter-house sports competitions and preparing for inter-ward tournaments aimed at talent discovery.

Sanitation & Environment

The council embarked on mass desilting of drainages and strengthened enforcement of sanitation regulations to curb environmental degradation.

Road Rehabilitation

Despite financial constraints and heavy rainfall, the administration said two of the six roads commenced simultaneously across the LCDA have been completed, while work continues on the remaining projects.

Security Improvements

The LCDA has recruited Peace Corps personnel, established taskforces to address roadside trading and procured utility vehicles to support security agencies. Personnel have also been deployed to schools, health centres and the council secretariat.

Empowerment & Staff Welfare

Opeyemi disclosed that 200 indigent residents have benefited from the monthly Renewed Hope Relief Cash Package. Ongoing vocational training in tailoring, catering, hairdressing, tie-and-dye and makeup will soon be followed by start-up support and access to microcredit.

She also announced a 100% salary increase for non-pensionable staff, alongside improved welfare and regular training programmes.

Agriculture & Market Development

The LCDA supported the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (Mosan-Okunola Chapter) during their three-day exhibition at the secretariat and is planning urban farming schemes and Sunday markets to offer subsidised food items.

PVC Registration Support

In what she described as a “remarkable democratic milestone,” Opeyemi announced that the LCDA assisted more than 20,000 residents in obtaining or replacing their Permanent Voter Cards.

Political Mobilisation

Looking ahead to national politics, the chairman urged residents to remain committed to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 bid, calling for unity and vigilance against misinformation.

A Pledge for Continued Development

Opeyemi reaffirmed her commitment to practical and transparent governance, noting that “every day henceforth will witness a new mark of development in Mosan-Okunola.”

“As we move forward, dividends of democracy will be counted in numbers and figures,” she said. “This will be my legacy.”

The event ended with prayers for the LCDA, Lagos State and Nigeria.
