The Lagos outreach follows an earlier phase in Abuja and has significantly expanded its scope. Over 1,000 beneficiaries received medical services, including eye screening, dental care, general consultations, and free prescription eyeglasses under what organisers termed “medical empowerment.”

Representing the Inspector-General of Police, , the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, , said the initiative underscores the Force’s renewed commitment to personnel welfare. He noted that officers perform better when assured of their families’ well-being.
Beneficiaries at the event attested to the programme’s impact. One participant, , described the initiative as unprecedented in Lagos, noting that she received prescription glasses and a ₦50,000 cash grant.
The initiative also featured sensitisation sessions for young people, focusing on drug abuse, cultism, and reproductive health, as part of a broader effort to secure the future of police families.
POWA leadership and police authorities acknowledged the support of the , including Governor and First Lady , as well as other partners who contributed to the programme’s success.
Organisers noted that the POWA CARES Initiative is designed as a long-term, scalable model to be replicated across other states, with the aim of strengthening welfare systems for police families nationwide.
