Sanwo-Olu Orders Security Agencies to Arrest Festac-Alakija Bridge Vandals

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has directed security agencies to track down and arrest those responsible for the vandalism of the Festac-Alakija Bridge.

The governor described the act as barbaric and criminal, warning that the Lagos State Government would not tolerate any attempt to damage critical public infrastructure.

Sanwo-Olu said officials of the Office of Infrastructure had inspected the bridge and confirmed that its structural integrity remained intact.

He, however, directed that immediate remedial works be carried out to protect the bridge columns and prevent further damage.

The governor vowed that anyone found to have participated in the vandalism would be made to face the full weight of the law.

He described the incident as “horrendous, shameful and condemnable”, stressing that there was no place in Lagos for acts of vandalism or violence against public infrastructure.

Sanwo-Olu also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities around public facilities to the relevant security agencies.

He appealed to Lagosians to take collective responsibility for protecting government infrastructure, noting that such facilities were provided to serve the people and support the development of the state.
