The political landscape of Lagos State received a significant boost on Monday with the official inauguration of the Independent Campaign Group (ICG) spearheaded by Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as JANDOR, to rally support for All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the forthcoming Local Government elections.

The ceremony, held in Lagos, marked the unveiling of a self-funded, grassroots-driven initiative aimed at mobilizing voters across all 377 wards and 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.

Gracing the event as the special guest was the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Her Excellency Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, who formally inaugurated the group. In his remarks, JANDOR emphasized that the initiative is not just a political movement, but a mission to deepen grassroots development and strengthen democratic engagement at the community level.

“This campaign group is not just about politics, it is about ensuring quality representation at the grassroots, consolidating the gains of good governance, and empowering the people to choose credible leaders under our great party, the APC,” JANDOR declared. “I have taken it upon myself to fund and mobilize this initiative because I believe in the future of our state and the strength of our people.”

The event drew a wide array of political heavyweights and stakeholders. The Chairman of the Lagos APC, Hon. Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, was represented by the State Deputy Chairman, Hon. Moshood Maiyegun. Also present were former Deputy Governorship Candidate of the PDP, Alhaja Safuratu Abdul-Kareem, and former Deputy Chairman of Lagos PDP, Chief Ola Apena—both of whom have since aligned with the APC.

Party loyalists, youth groups, community leaders, and volunteers from all corners of the state were also in attendance, pledging unwavering support to deliver victory for APC Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates at the polls.

The JANDOR Independent Campaign Group will be coordinated by 24 state apex leaders, 57 LG coordinators, and 377 ward leaders. It is set to commence intensive ward-to-ward outreach, voter education, door-to-door mobilization, and media engagement in the coming days.

Political analysts see this development as a strategic consolidation of JANDOR’s influence within the APC and a clear indication of his commitment to grassroots empowerment and sustainable political leadership.

As Lagos prepares for its crucial local council elections, the ICG is poised to become a powerful mobilizing force for the ruling party, reinforcing its message of continuity, responsive governance, and community-centered progress.
