The newly appointed Controller of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone A, Ikeja, Comptroller Aliyu Gambo, has outlined a bold reform plan built around three core pillars: Change Management, Compliance Management, and Reputational Management. In an exclusive interview, Gambo emphasized that his administration will be driven by accountability, motivation, transparency, and professionalism, aligning with the vision of Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.
Under Change Management, Gambo prioritizes attitudinal reorientation across Customs personnel, traders, and border communities, stressing that sustainable reform starts with mindset shifts. "Officers must embrace professionalism and discipline, while stakeholders understand Customs operations are anchored on national interest and the rule of law," he said.
Gambo recognizes the evolving global trade landscape demands adaptability, intelligence-led enforcement, and stakeholder engagement. "Change must reflect in behavioural adjustments and stronger institutional culture," he added, hinting at a tougher, more efficient approach to customs operations.
With this agenda, Gambo aims to boost compliance, enhance reputation, and drive results for FOU Zone A, contributing to Nigeria's economic growth.
