  The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has apprehended the driver of an empty Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) tanker following a fatal road traffic collision that claimed the lives of a commercial motorcyclist and his passenger at Pokia Junction, inward Araga, along the Epe–Ijebu Road in Epe, Lagos State. According to preliminary findings, the motorcyclist, who was conveying a male passenger, was travelling against traffic on a prohibited one-way route, in clear violation of traffic regulations, when the motorcycle was struck by the tanker, reportedly moving at high speed. Oyo Medical Health Workers Rejects 7.5% Health Insurance Deduction

  The Medical and Health Workers Union Oyo State Council (MHWUN) has strongly rejected the recent increase in health insurance deductions from worker’s salaries to 7.5% of basic salary.   The Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB) Badagry on Tuesday, 13 January 2026, handed over a total of 372 bags of seized foreign parboiled rice to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) as part of ongoing efforts to combat smuggling and other cross-border economic crimes. The handover followed a series of targeted anti-smuggling operations conducted by personnel of FOB Badagry in line with the Nigerian Navy’s constitutional mandate to support civil authorities in safeguarding the nation’s economy.
