The Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District,in the 8 Asmbley Senator Adelere Adeyemi Oriolowo, has paid a glowing tribute to the late Alhaji Sulaiman Ola Aremu, describing him as a rare symbol of integrity, hard work, and selfless service whose life positively shaped Iwoland.
In a condolence message made available to the press, Senator Oriolowo noted that Alhaji Aremu’s life was a clear reminder that true greatness is defined by character and impact, not by academic qualifications. According to the Senator, the late community leader rose to prominence through vision, determination, and resilience, despite not having the benefit of extensive formal education.
Senator Oriolowo recalled that Alhaji Aremu’s foray into the transport business marked the foundation of a lifelong commitment to enterprise and service, which later expanded into farming and other ventures. He described him as a humble, honest, and respectful man whose business dealings were guided by strong moral values.
The lawmaker further highlighted the late Alhaji Aremu’s deep commitment to philanthropy and community development, noting that he consistently devoted his resources, time, and influence to the growth and stability of Iwoland.
“He was a loyal friend and trusted ally of the late Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Asiru Olatunbosun, and played a notable role in supporting his ascension to the throne. This reflected his strong belief in loyalty, destiny, and service to tradition,” Senator Oriolowo said.
The Senator also acknowledged Alhaji Aremu’s contributions to community institutions, including his service as the first Chairman of the Iwo Day Celebrations, his membership of the 1st and 2nd Iwo Board of Trustees, and his personal logistical support during the 2006 National Population Census, which contributed to Iwo’s recognition as the most populous local government area in Osun State.
Describing him as a respected businessman, cashew farmer, leader, and patriot, Senator Oriolowo said Alhaji S. Ola Aremu left an indelible mark on the political, economic, and social development of Iwoland.
He prayed for Allah (SWT) to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus, while urging the people of Iwo to uphold the values of integrity, service, and unity that Alhaji Aremu exemplified.
Alhaji S. Ola Aremu’s passing, the Senator noted, is a great loss not only to his family but to the entire Iwo community, even as his legacy continues to live on.
