Adegbodu Twins’ Taiwo Adegbodu Dies, Gospel Music Community in Mourning

The Nigerian gospel music scene has been plunged into grief following the death of Taiwo Adegbodu, one half of the celebrated gospel duo, the Adegbodu Twins.

His death was announced on Sunday through a post shared on the duo’s official Facebook page. The statement, reportedly written by his twin brother and longtime music partner, Kehinde Adegbodu, expressed deep sorrow and shock over the loss.

In the emotional tribute, Kehinde lamented his brother’s sudden passing and the void it has created in both his personal life and ministry.

“Taiwo, why will you leave me and your kids without notification? My heart is bleeding. Lord, how do you want me to cope without him? God, why? This is too much for me to bear!!!” the post read.

The announcement triggered an outpouring of condolences from fans, fellow gospel ministers and well-wishers across social media. Many described Taiwo as a passionate evangelist whose songs strengthened faith and provided spiritual encouragement to countless families.

As of the time of filing this report, the cause of his death had not been disclosed.

The Adegbodu Twins, made up of Amos Taiwo and Samuel Kehinde Adegbodu, formed their musical partnership in 1974 and rose to prominence in the Yoruba gospel music genre. Known for their harmonious style and unwavering dedication to spreading the Christian message through music, the duo built a legacy that spanned decades.

Taiwo Adegbodu’s passing marks a significant loss to Nigeria’s gospel music industry and to the many lives impacted by the twins’ enduring ministry.
