Lagos State Government Completes 9km Lekki–Ajah Road Rehabilitation Ahead of Schedule

The Lagos State Government has completed the rehabilitation of a critical nine-kilometre stretch of the Lekki–Ajah Road from Chevron to Admiralty (Lagos-bound) in 27 days, surpassing the initial 41-day completion timeline.

The project forms part of the broader 28-kilometre Lekki–Ajah corridor upgrade, which spans from the Lekki–Ajah Bridge to Admiralty on both carriageways and is being executed in phases.

During an inspection of the completed stretch, the Special Adviser on Infrastructure, Engr. Olufemi Daramola, confirmed that work on the Epe-bound carriageway will commence soon as the next phase of the project.

The Honourable Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, attributed the speedy delivery to the implementation of a comprehensive Traffic Management Plan designed to ease vehicular movement and minimize disruptions during construction.

Osiyemi commended residents and road users for their patience and cooperation throughout the rehabilitation process, noting that their support played a vital role in the project’s success.

He assured Lagosians that enhanced traffic frameworks, strategic deployment of personnel, and real-time monitoring systems would remain in place to ensure smooth traffic flow as work progresses on other sections of the corridor.

The Lekki–Ajah corridor is one of Lagos’ busiest transport routes, serving thousands of commuters daily. The state government said the ongoing rehabilitation is aimed at improving road safety, reducing travel time, and enhancing overall connectivity within the Lekki axis.
