The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and efficiency in public procurement, as the state continues to strengthen its procurement framework under the Lagos State Public Procurement Law of 2015.
This was disclosed yesterday at the 2026 ministerial press briefing in commemoration of the seventh year in office of Governors Babajide olusola sanwo-olu which was held at Bagauda Kaltho press centre, Alawusa ikeja
The law, which established a robust legal and regulatory framework for procurement activities across the state, has over the years positioned Lagos as a benchmark for efficient and transparent procurement practices in Nigeria.
Speaking on the progress recorded in the sector, the agency noted that the sustained success of public procurement administration in Lagos State has been driven largely by the unwavering support and commitment of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. According to the agency, the governor’s support has significantly enhanced its operational capacity and strengthened its ability to effectively deliver on its mandate.
As part of efforts to improve procurement planning and budget implementation, the 2026 Annual Public Procurement Planning Clinic was held between February 10 and 11, 2026, for procurement officers across all procuring entities in the state. The clinic provided a platform for the review and validation of procurement plans to ensure alignment with approved budgets and government priorities.
The agency also reiterated its commitment to human capital development through continuous capacity building and professional training for procurement officers. In collaboration with reputable institutions and professional bodies, officers across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) continue to receive regular training on modern procurement practices and system operations.
In line with the state’s digital transformation agenda, the agency disclosed that it has continued the deployment of its electronic procurement platform to improve efficiency and transparency in procurement processes.
During the review period, an additional 10 MDAs were onboarded onto the e-procurement platform, bringing the total number of participating MDAs to 169 between 2025 and 2026.
To further support seamless implementation of the digital procurement initiative, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment including laptops, scanners and printers were procured and distributed to procurement officers across the participating MDAs.
The agency expressed confidence that the ongoing reforms and digital transformation initiatives would further consolidate Lagos State’s reputation as a leading model for public procurement administration in Nigeria
