The Chairman of Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mayor Abiodun Jimoh Isola Ejigbadero, on Monday honoured and celebrated 20 pensionable staff members who retired from active public service in 2025, describing them as worthy ambassadors whose years of dedication contributed significantly to the growth and development of Lagos State.
The retirement celebration, held at the council secretariat, was marked by commendations, presentation of gifts, and awards of Certificates of Service to the retirees.
Addressing the gathering, Mayor Ejigbadero said the retirees deserved recognition after spending more than two decades serving the public in various capacities across local government administrations in Lagos State.
He congratulated them on their successful retirement and expressed appreciation for their commitment, diligence, and invaluable contributions to the development of Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA.
The council chairman urged the retirees not to regard retirement as the end of their journey but as the beginning of a new and fulfilling chapter of life. He wished them good health, longevity, and happiness in the years ahead, encouraging them to remain active and make the most of their retirement.
As a token of appreciation, Mayor Ejigbadero presented each of the 20 retirees with a brand-new refrigerator.
In her goodwill message, the Council Manager, Mrs. Gbemisola Fregene, congratulated the retirees on the successful completion of their careers in the Lagos State Public Service. She advised them to prioritise their health, stressing that good health remains essential to enjoying the rewards of their years of service.
Representing the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Agoro, at the event, the Director of Post Service, Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Mr. Ogunsakin Irewole, commended the retirees for completing their careers without blemish or disciplinary records.
He noted that the Lagos State Government places a high premium on the welfare of civil servants, including those who have retired, adding that this informed the state's initiative of celebrating public servants on their final day in office.
Mr. Ogunsakin encouraged the retirees to remain productive by engaging in community development and religious activities. On behalf of the Head of Service, he presented Certificates of Service and Lagos State-branded sleeping mats to the retirees in recognition of their meritorious service.
Speaking on behalf of the retirees, Mr. Sulaimon Biliaminu, who retired as a Senior Technical Officer after 32 years of service, expressed gratitude to the council chairman and the Lagos State Government for honouring and celebrating them.
In a related development, Mayor Ejigbadero also presented essential working tools to security personnel attached to the council as part of efforts to strengthen security within the council secretariat and its area offices.
The items distributed included touchlights, raincoats, rain boots, umbrellas, whistles, and cutlasses.
The chairman urged the security personnel to make effective and responsible use of the equipment in carrying out their duties.
The event was attended by the Vice Chairman of the council, Hon. Kehinde Shobayo; Secretary to the Council, Prince Sulaimon Buhari; Chief of Staff, AbdulRasheed Rabiu; Supervisors, Special Advisers, members of the management team, council staff, and family members of the retirees.
