Orile-Agege LCDA Chairman Marks One Year in Office with ₦40 Million Empowerment for 400 Residents

The Executive Chairman of Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu, popularly known as DODO, has marked his first anniversary in office with a major empowerment programme, providing financial support to 400 residents as part of his administration's commitment to improving the welfare of the people.

Speaking during the anniversary celebration, Hon. Idowu described the milestone as a reflection of his administration's dedication to inclusive governance, economic empowerment, and sustainable grassroots development.

"The one-year anniversary celebration stands as another testament to our administration's resolve to deliver inclusive governance, promote economic growth, and ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every resident of Orile-Agege LCDA," he said.

As part of the programme, 400 beneficiaries received ₦100,000 each, amounting to ₦40 million in direct financial empowerment. The beneficiaries were also informed that they would be considered for an additional ₦2 million business support initiative in the near future.

The Chairman expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, for their continued leadership and support. He also thanked party leaders, traditional rulers, Baales, market associations, community leaders, and residents for their confidence in his administration.

Hon. Idowu highlighted several landmark achievements recorded within his first year in office, including the construction and rehabilitation of roads and drainage systems, environmental improvement initiatives, the renovation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office at Arigbanla, and the provision of official vehicles for Obas and Baales.

Other achievements include the implementation of the Green Orile-Agege Initiative, support for waste management through LAWMA debt waivers and the procurement of waste evacuation trucks, environmental sanitation stakeholders' engagements, the distribution of educational materials to pupils in public primary schools, the provision of non-interest loans to waste management operators, free GCE and JAMB registration forms for students, various skill acquisition programmes, and the successful staging of the "Run and Fight for Asiwaju" sporting event.

The Chairman reaffirmed his administration's commitment to initiating more people-centred projects and programmes aimed at improving the standard of living of residents across the LCDA.

In her welcome address, the Council Manager, Mrs. Seriki Kehinde, thanked God for the successful leadership of Hon. Idowu over the past year. She commended the Chairman for his achievements in infrastructure development, environmental sanitation, staff welfare, and responsive governance.

Mrs. Kehinde also praised the unwavering support of the Vice Chairman, Hon. Wale Fayemi, and the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Afolabi Omotunde (APHOO), describing their teamwork as a major driving force behind the administration's successes.

The anniversary celebration, coordinated by the Head of Information, Mrs. Bukola Bankole, attracted political leaders, traditional rulers, market leaders, religious leaders, community stakeholders, party faithful, and residents, who applauded the Chairman's performance and commitment to grassroots development during his first year in office.
