Renewed Hope Ambassadors Hold Prayer for Tinubu, Hamzat, Mobilise Christian Leaders Across Lagos

The Lagos State Directorate of Christian Affairs of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors has held a prayer programme for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Lagos State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, ahead of the 2027 general elections.


The programme also featured the mobilisation and inauguration of grassroots coordinators across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas of the state. 


The initiative is aimed at strengthening community engagement and political mobilisation ahead of the elections. 


Speaking at the event, the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate in Lagos State, Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, said politics should concern everyone, stressing that the ultimate objective of leadership should be the welfare of the people.


Sonayon-James said the participation of Christian leaders in the political process was important, noting that the Bible teaches that people rejoice when righteous individuals occupy positions of leadership.


She described Hamzat as a man of integrity and a community-oriented leader, while appreciating the Christian community for joining the mobilisation effort.


According to her, the administration, if elected, would not disappoint the people, urging parents to encourage their children and young people to participate actively in the political process.


She also called on young people to support efforts aimed at addressing their concerns, saying the Federal Government under President Tinubu had responded to some of the issues raised by the youth.


Sonayon-James urged the people to support the incoming administration, saying its policies should benefit all residents.


The Lagos State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Hon. Tayo Akinmade Ayinde, commended the coordinators for their activities across their various local government areas.


Ayinde said leadership was about service, adding that the prayer gathering was organised to seek divine guidance for the nation's leaders and to encourage members of the organisation to play their roles in their respective communities.


He urged every coordinator to understand the peculiarities of their communities, bring people together and work towards resolving divisions.


He described the gathering as both a prayer and mobilisation programme, urging the coordinators to take the message of the Renewed Hope agenda to churches and communities across Lagos State.


Ayinde also called on the Christian community to remain actively engaged in the political process, stressing the importance of grassroots mobilisation and community participation.


In his remarks, the Director of the Directorate of Christian Affairs, Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Rev. Dr. Sam Ogedengbe, expressed appreciation to President Tinubu, the leadership of the organisation and other party leaders for their support.


Ogedengbe said the support had enabled the directorate to mobilise members of the Christian community across Lagos, as well as organise prayer walks, outreaches and sensitisation programmes in churches and communities.


He said the inauguration of grassroots “foot soldiers” across the local government areas would enable the directorate to take its message deeper into communities.


Ogedengbe said the directorate was supporting President Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027, citing policies and programmes including fuel subsidy removal, exchange-rate reforms, student loans, CNG initiatives, local government autonomy and infrastructure development.


He described Tinubu as a leader whose administration, in his view, was implementing the Renewed Hope agenda, and urged Christians and other Nigerians to continue praying and working for the country.

On Lagos State, Ogedengbe said the directorate was also supporting Hamzat's governorship bid, describing him as a leader capable of sustaining the state's development.



Ogedengbe also appealed for campaign vehicles to support the activities of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors' Directorate of Christian Affairs, saying that, if vehicles could not be provided for all 20 local governments, at least three should be allocated to each senatorial district.

He said the organisation would continue to engage churches and communities as part of its mobilisation activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
