Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Senator Musiliu Obanikoro have urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain united and seek divine guidance as the party begins its campaign ahead of the forthcoming elections.

The duo made the call on Tuesday at an inter-faith prayer organised by the APC at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan, Lagos.

The event attracted political leaders from across the state, traditional rulers and religious leaders from the Christian, Muslim and traditional faith communities.

Speaking at the gathering, Obanikoro, Director-General of the Bola Tinubu and Obafemi Hamzat APC Governorship Campaign in Lagos State, urged party members to approach the election as one united family and avoid internal disagreements that could undermine the party’s chances.

He acknowledged that the party’s primary elections might have created some grievances among members, but appealed to those affected to put their differences behind them and work collectively for the success of the party.

“Let us disagree without becoming enemies. Let us pray and work for the party, remain united and look up to Almighty God for victory for our great party.

At the national and state levels, we have the best candidates. We are blessed with people of proven integrity,”

Obanikoro said.

Speaking under the theme, “Let God Go Before Us,” Obanikoro said the prayer session was organised to formally commit the party’s campaign and electoral activities into the hands of God.

He stressed that although organisation, strategy and unity were important to electoral success, the party must also recognise the role of divine guidance.

Organisation, unity and strategy matter, but we should realise that it is through God that we can achieve our objectives.

There are circumstances beyond our control, and we need to seek guidance and wisdom,” he said.

Also speaking, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the APC chose to begin its campaign activities with prayers because “there is nothing stronger than prayer”.

He urged party members to believe that their prayers had been answered and to remain committed to the party’s candidates.

We have the assurance that all the prayers we said today have been answered. We followed the dictates of our faith by starting our campaign with prayers.

“We do not take anything for granted. What we have done is to follow God’s directive. All the party’s candidates will emerge victorious.

We have committed all our candidates into the hands of God, and now we can begin campaigning.

“Prayer overrides everything. God will go with us in the campaign, and we will be successful,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The governor further assured party faithful that he would personally participate in the campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates.

He urged members to complement their prayers with hard work and effective grassroots mobilisation.

What we have done as people of faith is to go out and work for the success of the party’s candidates.

God will crown all our efforts.

“I will make myself available to go on the presidential campaign for President Tinubu and other candidates,” he added.
