Adebisi Celebrates Teachers, Reaffirms Commitment to Education Development in Ibadan Southwest Constituency 1
As Nigeria marks this year’s Teachers’ Day, the Deputy Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly and representative of Ibadan Southwest State Constituency 1, Hon. Yusuf Oladeni Adebisi, has celebrated teachers for their invaluable contributions to nation-building, describing the teaching profession as one of the most important pillars of society.
Adebisi, while commending teachers for their dedication, patience and sacrifices in shaping the next generation, stressed that no society can achieve sustainable development without a strong and properly supported education system.
According to him, teachers do more than impart academic knowledge, as they also help mould the character, discipline, confidence and future aspirations of young people.
He therefore called for continued investment in teachers, schools and learning facilities, noting that improving the welfare and working environment of teachers remains essential to achieving better educational outcomes.
The lawmaker also highlighted some of his interventions in the education sector within Ibadan Southwest State Constituency 1, including his facilitation and support for the provision of classroom blocks at the Seventh-day Adventist Primary School, with the project expected to support the planned conversion and development of the institution towards becoming the first secondary school serving the immediate community.
The initiative, according to him, is aimed at expanding access to secondary education and reducing the pressure on existing schools, while giving children within the constituency an opportunity to continue their education closer to home.
Adebisi has also supported indigent students through the provision of school uniforms and other educational assistance, particularly for children whose families may struggle to meet basic schooling needs.
Other education-related interventions attributed to his constituency service include support for students, educational materials and initiatives aimed at improving the learning environment and encouraging young people to remain committed to their education.
Speaking on Teachers’ Day, Adebisi reaffirmed his belief that investment in education is an investment in the future of Ibadan Southwest and Oyo State.
He urged teachers not to relent in their responsibilities despite the challenges confronting the profession, assuring them that their contributions to society remain valuable and appreciated.
He also appealed to parents, community leaders, government institutions and other stakeholders to work collectively towards creating an educational system where every child, irrespective of economic background, has access to quality learning.
The lawmaker congratulated teachers across Ibadan Southwest Constituency 1, Oyo State and Nigeria on the occasion, expressing appreciation for their continued service and commitment to raising future leaders.
“Every classroom is a place where the future of our society is being built. When we support teachers and provide conducive learning environments for our children, we are investing directly in the future of our communities,” Adebisi said.
