…Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA Chairman seeks stakeholders’ input for inclusive development

The Executive Chairman of Agbado/Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mayor Abiodun Jimoh Isola Ejigbadero, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots development, improved infrastructure, quality healthcare, education and economic empowerment as the council commenced preparations for its 2027 budget.

Ejigbadero made this known on Thursday, October 15, 2026, while delivering his keynote address at the 2027 Budget Stakeholders’ Forum held at Magretta Event Centre, Ekoro Road, Abule-Egba, Lagos.

The forum, which brought together political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, community representatives, market associations, persons with disabilities, non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders, provided an opportunity for participants to identify community needs and recommend priority projects for inclusion in the forthcoming budget.

The chairman, who noted that the forum was the second organised by his administration since assuming office on July 27, 2025, said the council had recorded significant achievements across various sectors with the support and cooperation of residents and stakeholders.

Highlighting the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, Ejigbadero disclosed that the council had completed the rehabilitation of Ogundare Road in Ile-Epo and the reconstruction of Yusuf Road in Omiata.

He added that work was ongoing on several other road and drainage projects, as well as the fencing of the Council Secretariat and the construction of a new Secretariat office complex.

On healthcare delivery, the chairman said the administration had provided an ambulance, free essential drugs, eyeglasses and medical outreach programmes to improve access to healthcare services for residents, particularly the less privileged.

In the education sector, he noted that thousands of indigent students had benefited from the distribution of free General Certificate of Education (GCE) and Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination forms.

According to him, the administration had also organised spelling bee competitions and improved school facilities to promote academic excellence and create a more conducive learning environment for pupils and students.

Ejigbadero further stated that his administration had strengthened environmental sanitation, supported local security initiatives, sponsored staff training programmes, improved workers’ welfare and reorganised revenue operations to enhance efficiency in the council’s administration.

On economic empowerment, he disclosed that hundreds of beneficiaries had received financial support to strengthen their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

He also revealed that the council had provided 15 utility vehicles to support the operations of security agencies, community groups, religious organisations, market associations, council area offices and other stakeholders.

The chairman explained that the interventions were part of the administration’s broader strategy to promote economic activities, strengthen community partnerships and improve service delivery across the LCDA.

As part of efforts to stimulate economic growth and expand public infrastructure, Ejigbadero announced that plans had commenced for the development of an ultra-modern shopping mall at Amikanle, a new Council Secretariat office complex and the proposed Omoroga Civic Centre.

He described the projects as important components of the administration’s development agenda, aimed at improving public facilities, supporting commercial activities and creating more opportunities for residents.

The chairman urged stakeholders to take advantage of the budget forum to articulate the pressing needs of their respective communities and wards, stressing that their contributions would help the council prioritise projects that directly address the concerns of residents.

“This forum is an opportunity for us to identify the needs of our communities and wards and agree on the priority projects to be included in the 2027 budget. Your contributions are important to ensuring that our budget reflects the real needs of our people,” he said.

He assured residents that the council would continue to support security agencies, including the Local Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), in maintaining peace, protecting lives and property, and ensuring the safety of communities across the LCDA.

According to him, the administration’s development priorities remain focused on improving the standard of living of residents through inclusive governance, better infrastructure and sustainable development.

Ejigbadero added that further details of the administration’s achievements would be contained in its one-year-in-office compendium, which was scheduled for distribution at the forum.

He expressed appreciation to residents, community leaders and other stakeholders for their cooperation and continued support, while urging them to sustain their partnership with the council in the pursuit of development.
