LASG Announces 35-Day Rehabilitation of Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, Releases Alternative Routes

The Lagos State Government has announced a 35-day rehabilitation project on Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, from the Adetokunbo Ademola/Civic Centre junction to Samuel Manuwa/BJ, beginning Monday, October 19, 2026.

The government said alternative routes had been mapped out to ensure a smoother flow of traffic and minimise inconvenience to motorists during the rehabilitation works.

As part of the traffic management measures, a contra-flow arrangement will be introduced on the Lagos-bound carriageway between Samuel Manuwa and Adetokunbo Ademola/Civic Centre while work is being carried out on the other lane.

The government has also outlined diversion routes for motorists travelling through Bonny Camp, Falomo, Akin Adesola, Eko Hotel and surrounding areas.

Bonny Camp/Falomo to Civic Centre and Lekki

Motorists travelling from Bonny Camp and Falomo towards Civic Centre and Lekki are advised to use Adeyemo Alakija Street by Muri Okunola Park, connect to Adeola Hopewell Street, proceed through Akinbo Savage Street and link Bishop Aboyade Cole Street.

They are to access the expressway through School Corner, around Black Diamond, towards Sandfield.

Alternatively, motorists may connect Bishop Aboyade Cole Street and continue through School Corner towards Sandfield.

Falomo to Akin Adesola

Motorists travelling from Falomo towards Akin Adesola are advised to pass through IMB and connect to the Coastal Road entrance via Adetokunbo Ademola Road.

They should proceed to Eko Hotel Roundabout, continue through Ajose Adeogun Street and Ligali Street, and head towards Black Diamond School Corner.

Bonny Camp Traffic Diversion

Motorists departing from Bonny Camp are advised to use Ahmadu Bello Way to access Eko Hotel Roundabout through IMB and the Coastal Road entrance.

From there, they should proceed along Bishop Aboyade Cole Street, connect through Adetokunbo Ademola Road and Eko Hotel Roundabout, and continue through Ajose Adeogun Street and Ligali Street towards Black Diamond School Corner.

Eko Hotel to Civic Centre

Motorists travelling from Eko Hotel through Adetokunbo Ademola Road towards Civic Centre will be diverted to Bishop Aboyade Cole Street and directed to continue through School Corner, around Black Diamond, towards Sandfield.

Vehicles exiting through the 1004 gate, alongside other road users and stakeholders in the area, will be required to turn left or make a U-turn in front of the 1004 gate before proceeding along Bishop Aboyade Cole Street towards School Corner and Sandfield.

Eko Hotel to Falomo-Ikoyi

Motorists travelling from Eko Hotel towards Falomo and Ikoyi are advised to use Sanusi Fafunwa Street to connect to Akin Adesola Street and proceed towards the ramp bridge.

Meanwhile, the state government said it would deploy officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to manage vehicle movement, reduce congestion and minimise delays throughout the rehabilitation period.

The government urged motorists to plan their journeys ahead, comply with traffic instructions and cooperate with the traffic management measures introduced to ease movement around the affected corridors.

It added that the interventions were designed to ensure the smooth movement of vehicles and reduce the impact of the roadworks on residents, commuters and other road users.
