Ogbara Snubs Oshinowo at Lagos Event After Losing APC Primary

A member of the House of Representatives, Kafilat Ogbara, has attracted attention after declining to shake hands with Mayor Dele Oshinowo, who defeated her in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary for Kosofe Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general election.

The incident occurred at the inaugural Seyi Tinubu Colloquium in Lagos, where Oshinowo, a former Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), approached Ogbara and extended his hand in greeting.

However, in a video of the encounter, Ogbara remained seated and turned away as Oshinowo attempted to shake her hand.

“Welldone, how are you? I cannot shake you,” she was heard telling him.

Oshinowo appeared visibly animated in response to the snub before walking away.

The encounter comes months after Oshinowo emerged victorious in the APC primary held in May 2026, securing the party’s ticket to contest for the Kosofe Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general election.

According to the reported results, Oshinowo polled 18,614 votes to defeat other aspirants in the contest.

The outcome of the primary marked a significant development in the political contest for the constituency, which Ogbara currently represents in the House of Representatives.

The latest encounter has also drawn attention to the political differences between the two figures, who have previously been associated with disagreements over local political issues.

In 2025, the two politicians were linked to disputes surrounding the demolition of the Owode-Onirin market, an issue that generated controversy among affected traders and other stakeholders.

Although the circumstances surrounding their latest interaction remain unclear, the incident has sparked discussions amid lingering political tensions in Kosofe following the APC primary.

Oshinowo is expected to represent the APC in the constituency in the 2027 general election, subject to the completion of the relevant electoral processes.
