Lagos Leads Nationwide APC E-Registration Drive, Records Highest Numbers in 15 Days
Lagos State has emerged as the leading state in Nigeria’s All Progressives Congress (APC) e-registration exercise, recording the highest number of registered members among the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory within just 15 days.
The nationwide exercise, which commenced in December 2025 and is scheduled to end on January 31, 2026, is designed to digitally capture APC members across the country. Lagos State began its registration on January 5, 2026, and swiftly overtook Delta State, which had previously led the exercise for nearly three months.
Within a fortnight, Lagos recorded unprecedented registration figures, positioning the state strongly toward achieving its target of registering millions of party members.
Speaking on the development, the Lagos State Coordinator of the APC E-Registration Exercise, Comrade Prince Ayodele Adewale, attributed the success to effective planning, strong collaboration with local government stakeholders, active participation of party members at the ward level and the strategic use of technology to monitor and manage registrations.
Prince Adewale expressed appreciation to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat for their support, as well as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, and members of the House for their encouragement throughout the process.
He also commended the APC Lagos State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, and his executive committee for providing decisive leadership, while acknowledging members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), led by Prince Oluyole Olusi, for their role in strategic planning and mobilization of party faithful.
The coordinator further praised the commitment of local government leadership, including executive chairmen across the 20 local governments and 37 local council development areas, led by Engr. Sesan Olowa of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government. He noted that the efforts of APC chairmen, apex leaders, stakeholders, the 20 local government supervisors and registration agents were critical to the success recorded so far.
Special recognition was given to the five senatorial administrators whose coordination efforts spanned the state. They include Dr. Muritala Seriki (Lagos East/Ikorodu Axis), Mr. Opeoluwa Adebodun-Topronu (Lagos West 1, Alimosho-Ikeja Axis), Alhaji Sarafadeen Ola Ibrahim (Lagos West 2, Badagry Axis), Mr. Patrick Oyadina (Lagos Central) and Mr. Abdulwaliu Balogun (Lagos East, Ibeju-Lekki/Epe Axis).
Prince Adewale described their commitment and selfless service as pivotal to achieving the milestone, adding that their work exemplified grassroots leadership and collective responsibility. He also thanked the technical team, led by Mr. Emmanuel Alabi, for working round the clock to configure and deploy the equipment used for the exercise.
With 11 days left before the close of registration, Prince Adewale expressed optimism that Lagos State would record even higher numbers as party members continue to participate fully.
The APC e-registration platform is geofenced to wards, local governments and states, enabling accurate monitoring of membership data and improved coordination of party activities. Party officials say the initiative reflects a growing shift toward digital tools in Nigerian politics, aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability and grassroots engagement.
Observers say Lagos State’s performance highlights the impact of technology-driven political organization and the resolve of local party structures to deepen democratic participation at the grassroots.
