Questions Trail Edo Governor Over Pre-Election Prophecy

Image
Following the conclusion of the Edo State governorship election, public attention has turned to a pre-election prophecy credited to Prophet Godwin Ikuru, founder of Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry, Lagos. Before the election, Prophet Ikuru had reportedly declared that Monday would emerge as the next governor of Edo State, a statement he described as a prayer and divine revelation. With Governor Monday now sworn into office, many supporters of the ministry believe the declaration has come to pass. As a result, discussions have intensified on social media and within religious circles, with members of the public raising questions about the relationship between the governor and the cleric. Some are asking whether Governor Monday remembers meeting Prophet Godwin Ikuru during the campaign period, when both men reportedly took a photograph together. Others are also curious to know whether the governor plans to reconnect with the prophet or publicly acknowledge the role of spiritual suppo...

The enforcement operation, executed by LAWMA’s Environmental Enforcement Unit, was precipitated by a deluge of formal complaints and petitions from conscientious and law-abiding residents who raised alarm over the habitual and indiscriminate disposal of refuse by operators and users of the affected facilities. These unlawful activities culminated in the desecration of road setbacks, medians, street junctions and drainage infrastructures, thereby constituting serious environmental degradation, public health risks and traffic safety threats within the corridor. Image
  * By *_Olamide Adeniji_* When Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran walked into Ansar-ud-deen Primary School, Oke-Fóko, Ibadan, it was more than an official visit. It was a return to roots, a powerful reminder that destiny is not determined by where a child starts, but by how far the child dares to dream. Now the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB), and a former Local Government Chairman as well as Commissioner for Education in Oyo State, Dr. Adeniran stood once again in the school where his own journey began.  The occasion was the Catch Them Young programme, aimed at inspiring pupils in public primary schools.  But for him, the message was personal, emotional, and deeply symbolic. Oke-Fóko: true to the weight the name carries, is one of the 'ghettos' in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area. It is the kind of place many people casually dismiss. A place where children are often written off before life even gives them a chance. To some...

Nestlé Nigeria and FBRA: Closing the Loop in Nigeria’s Waste Management Ecosystem

With over 32 million tonnes of solid waste produced  annually according to the World Bank, the pressure on city authorities and private  stakeholders to develop sustainable waste management systems has never been  greater.  Among the most transformative responses to this challenge is the Extended Producer  Responsibility (EPR) policy, introduced in 2014 through the National Environmental  Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA). This policy gave birth to  the Food and Beverage Recycling Alliance (FBRA) in 2018, Nigeria’s first Producer  Responsibility Organisation (PRO) for the food and beverage sector.  Since its establishment, FBRA has evolved from a consortium of four founding  members into a robust alliance of 49 member o...
