   A Lagos-based civil society group, The Passion for Justice Initiative (PJI), has raised alarm over what it describes as the illegal takeover of a family property in the Dopemu area of Lagos by security agents allegedly working in collaboration with a medical doctor. Addressing journalists on Tuesday, Comrade (Evangelist) Olatunde Owoeye-Wise, leader of PJI, condemned the “harassment, intimidation, and calculated persecution” of the Yusuf family by some officers of the Nigeria Police Force, the Ministry of Justice, and Dr. Saliu Niran Abdulwaheed — a consultant at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and founder of Haliman Hospital.    The Centre for Human and Socio-economic Rights (CHSR) has called for the immediate implementation of the Lagos State Local Government Administrative Law, 2025, urging authorities not to delay a law that has already been signed and gazetted. Speaking at a press briefing held at the organization’s office in Ijaiye, Lagos, on Sunday, the President of CHSR, Comrade Alex Omotehinse, expressed deep concern over the proposed delay in the enforcement of the new law, which was assented to by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on May 7, 2025. In a deeply emotional welcome speech, Mr. Olalekan Abiola, son of the late Chief MKO Abiola and Alhaja Kudirat, recalled the tragic events of June 4, 1996, when his mother was assassinated, and July 7, 1998, when MKO died under mysterious circumstances while in detention.
